Yes! After my marathon I told my family thanks for the support now leave me to lie here on the ground for a while! 🀣

As Yogi Berra said "when you come to a fork in the road, take it."

That is so cool! The Laz part, the PRs, just all of it! Congrats!

Thanks! The goal thing is tough. Every course, every day, every distance is different. Unless you're out to place, if your goal is simply to run your best race you're more likely to do well and have fun than if you saddle yourself with a specific pace. And trail races have even more variables!

Training plan? 😬 Maybe that's why I fell short of my goals! 🀣

Thanks! The best part isn't the toughness or the community. It's that I'm now qualified, required even, to give unsolicited marathon advice to anyone who even vaguely mentions running! 😁

First marathon in the books! I fell short of my time goals, which was a good lesson in goal setting. I wish I had gone into this one with no goals. Experience it with no expectations. It would have been more fun. I finished in about 4:30, and it's given me a lot to ponder!

Thanks! But I'm far from tech savvy! Garmin makes our pretty easy to build a custom workout.

Last long run before the Eugene Marathon! Did the tri-city tour! 🀣
Now it's really taper time. I'm aiming for sub 4, hoping for closer to 3:50 if I'm feeling great!
But for today, I'm grateful for beautiful Oregon miles, sunshine, and a hot bath!

If any grocery store in our county carried it, I would've done the same thing by now! In spite of my Amazon boycott, I have ordered it from them with the early morning delivery option! 😬

Finally getting back to some real speed work. 200m strides x 6. Got the "Too Fast" warning on the second set!

I have a couple of stride workouts programmed into my watch. With a 2 mile commute to work, I can warm up for a mile and do strides for the second mile. It definitely helps to have nice, smooth, fairly straight routes!

Thanks! I definitely have a plan for leading up to the marathon that should give me nice fresh legs for that day!

Hard run today. 15 miles last Sunday felt great. 20 today, hard from the start. The training schedule doesn't always mesh well with life and today became about accepting that and slogging through at what felt like a disappointing pace, but was actually a good effort given circumstances.

Getting close to 400 miles on my Topo Specter 2s so with my first marathon in a month I got a fresh pair. While I'm sure they've lost some cushion, I'm super impressed with how they're holding up! I'm a sucker for new models and colorways, so it says a lot that I bought the exact same shoe!

Last year, I raced with the great Max King. And by raced, I mean I saw him start the race and he finished over an hour ahead of me. Max ran the Barkley this year. Unfortunately he was first out due to an injury, but I suspect he'll be back. So basically, I'm almost Barkley ready. It's math.

I've only seen a few live in the wild and it's pretty much the highlight of being in their habitat! Not to knock Arkansas, Texas, Oklahoma, but...
One of the great joys of new places is spotting new critters and plants, especially the cute ones!

So cool! I have an irrational love for armadillos! We weren't expecting to see any in TN so it was a real treat! 🀣

We cut over from Florence, AL to take the parkway up to Nashville and we were so glad we did! It was so pretty! We stopped at a couple of historic sites and even saw an armadillo! An exciting event for northerners! 🀣

Nope! I loathed sports in general. I dreaded the day in phys-ed where we had to run a mile. I walked it.
Started running at 46 and I love it! First marathon is in a month, aiming for a 50k later in the year.

One month to my first #marathon! Long run today with an impromptu handstand/headstand attempt at mile 7! Stuck the landing, recovered, and ran another 8 miles! Progressive negative splits to the end! Feeling good! Probably a little sore tomorrow from the gymnastics, though! 🀣

Rest, recovery, and inspiration. Couch time watching running docs (The Edge of Possible) while the rest of the family braves Costco! #running docs, podcasts, and books are relaxing and motivating for me!

Progress is also a million other things that have nothing to do with speed. But for me, this morning, it's that!

Glad I did it. Progress is more than just seeing the fast times get faster. It's seeing your comfortable pace get faster without feeling harder.

Garmin says rest.
Sounds good.
Let's rest.
But I have to go to work anyway.
Maybe just an easy commute run since the weather is good.
But I'm tired.
But it's going to rain later in the week.
Maybe just a slow jog.
But...
But also...
Do mental gymnastics count as exercise?

Trying to push my morning commutes into sub 8s. So close! For my second day into my 50s, I'll take it!
-Excited for what the next half century brings!
-Grateful for my family and friends!
