Just got discharged from the in-home wound care nursing service…

After six months I finally have no foot wounds!

Of course my feet are still deformed, but next week I have podiatry and I’m hoping for a lighter visiting schedule there too. Plus awesome wheelchair hunting!

Had a few days in hospital to control a feet (both) infection. Infection cleared and I have a great team around me to keep my feet calm and care sustainable. Hope you’re doing okay.

I’m doing really well. I didn’t have surgery while I was in hospital, but the chair is about stopping that from happening. The staff as I mentioned before have been so good with pain management and right now with my boots, my feet and ankles are behaving themselves.

No hiking in high heels but okay

So I’m ‘graduating’ into a wheelchair, so my feet don’t muck up so much. It’s going to take a bit, but right now I’m looking at Bunnings for wheelchairs

I’m looking for a wheelchair at Bluey’s ‘Hammerbarn’. 😎🤔🇦🇺

(Bunnings has now suggested I might like a Cordless Line Trimmer with my gloves. No.)

So just one update: Thanks so much for the support for what was a shout out to a great team of people. Just waiting for a bit of paperwork and my incredible friend who is giving me and my flatmate a lift back and I’m on my way home. (These are my usual boots!) Feeling so grateful. Thanks again 👋☕️🇦🇺

Oh you’re so right - there definitely is an art to the foot wrapping. My lawyer flatmate tried once… He’s a good lawyer.

I know right! And the wrapping hasn’t slipped at all! They are all skilled and wrap neatly. It feels like when I go to the hairdresser and there’s no way I can replicate it at home 🤔 (I have community nurses for home)

It’s also far less expensive per patient to prevent before the bigger issues come than to treat them when they have appeared. And less cost in community support services. So that’s always been a head scratcher for me. All the best, even if it looks bleak at the moment 🇦🇺💔🇺🇸

All the best with the surgery - and you probably know this but I’ve gotten a great arm workout!

We hear about the US situation here. I think it’s important to call out great things, but I also realise that it’s not the same everywhere.
