Stop telling us we have to respect this man. Yes, political murder is a losing game, and its escalation endangers people on both sides, but this guy was truly reprehensible. I will not mourn him, but I do worry for political figures on the Left and our devolution into mutual assassinations.

How are you handling the rise of fascism coupled with an authoritarian power grab in your country? Frozen? Fearful? Enraged? Resigned? Indifferent?

Nice. I do the opposite. I end up reading a lot of history about fascism, authoritarianism, autocracy, etc. It's a strange source of solace. That the world has been through this shit before. Even if it's still scary.

I know a number of people who are rewatching The West Wing for the comfort of seeing a president who doesn't actively want to destroy the government.
