I love how it turned out!

This stunning metallic green sweat bee - Agapostemon virescens - is a new yard bee in our backyard. It’s about a third the size of a honey bee 🐝. For scale the center of the flower is the size of a dime.

It amazes me to see how much pollen this bumblebee has on their legs. The wild sweet peas at Discovery Park are a buffet for bees 🐝. It was heartening to see quite a few different species of bees enjoying the flowers.

If you learn them and follow your ears you might see owls #🦉, hawks or eagles 🦅 you otherwise would have missed.

This handheld video and photos were shot with a Sony 200-600mm lens at 600mm and cropped to keep a respectful distance from the wildlife.

Seeing a fledgling Barred owlet is one of the things that makes Discovery Park a unique wildlife oasis in Seattle. Sometimes the best way to see predators like owls is by using your ears.👂 Birds like robins, crows and songbirds all have alarm calls when predators are near.

Tip: observing a bird’s behavior just before it dives lets you time just the right moment to push the shutter to get a shot like this.
