I've got so much to do, and I've taken too many days off. If you need a co-working buddy, I'm over on Twitch checking things off of my list and (hopefully) getting another chapter done.

Maybel, who makes her appearance in Part 2 of Bound By Thorns, is pansexual, and she's very open about it when she meets Avisarah and the Glimmerbourne residents.

There are three factions of fey in Pilonia, the Daccians (balance), Macerai (give), and Vertrun (take). Avisarah is the Daccian steward of the region she lives in.

Avisarah would make a great head librarian at a massive historical library. The place would be silent, the books would be well guarded, and she would be stern but kind with everyone. Intimidating, but soft if someone asks about her favourite topic.

One of the themes I've tried exploring with Bound By Thorns is identity. Avisarah spends a lot of the book figuring out who she is, what that means for her, and how that affects grief, love, family, and survival.

Since starting the first 10 chapters and refining them, I've added and removed a few characters. The one that's getting the most air time right now is a character named Faraday. I thought she was a one-and-done mention, but she keeps coming back for more.

The biggest change for a character is probably how much Theonidas Jorts has grown from something created to drive plot, to someone who has their own POV, subplot, and happy ending.

The name comes from a member of my Twitch community, and he's one of my favourites to write.

One of my readers suggested using dialogue to help with introducing worldbuilding, which changed the game for me. It changed the first chapter, and it added missing depth to the relationship between two characters.

At the end of Part 1, Avisarah has to decide whether she goes against everything she's fought for to give her people an easier life, or stand her ground and face the consequences. This triggers a series of painful events and even more challenging choices as the story progresses.

One of my favourite parts of the day was the limo driver. She looked like Gwendoline Christie, spent extra time with us, took our picture at the Vegas sign, and talked about our favourite rock bands for the 1.5 hours she drove us around.

We were married on a Monday at 10 am because we forgot August had 31 days. It was 45C that day, but I barely noticed and have never been happier to wear heavy black clothing in the heat.

On August 31, 2015, I married my best friend and high school sweetheart while in Las Vegas to celebrate finishing my undergrad degree.

The only people we told were my parents, and that was because my mom wanted to buy my wedding dress ever since I was a little kid.
