To be fair, that wasn't the point I was replying to. Unions can be both a force for defending and improving collective issues, and wider social justice and ideological issues.

Depends what you mean by good relations. There is an inherent conflict in the employment relationship. We lie to ourselves if we workers deny this and enter into cosy partnership arrangements with employers. Plus, it's our right as activists to debate key issues AND negotiate. They're not exclusive.
