What's up? I've got the first draft of a wonderful poetry collection by a very talented young poet that we're going bring out into the world next year. I think 2026 is going to be an excellent year for books!

๐ŸคฉI think @bernardokastrup.bsky.social would also concur with this sentiment (with a little added dissociation, of course)

Off down to Mandala Cafรฉ on Chesterfield Road later to give a talk about the collective unconscious... and music... and neo liberal capitalism... and the digital paradigm (รก la my book 'Collective'). It's free, so join me from 7pm if you're kicking about in #Sheffield later. #SheffEvents #120325

"Mytho recommends: Accidental Poetry Roadie by Dan Sumption

This pamphlet of poems expands and contracts as much like a sea anemone as a lung, responding to encounters as much as to rhythms or compulsions. At the literal centre of the pamphlet is an epic car (roadie) journey 'skirting Sheffield' and down to South West England, to where 'above Stone House / shutted spiritualist church / still keeps slow wyrms in its walls /everdrenched in overdrying ectoplasm'. This encounter with a slow worm story is a curl around from the poet's earlier meeting with 'God's anima / slinking from sedge -thatched verge.... that sheer mass glides / down a hole'. The snakes are there again, in a den, when Sumption wanders Dartmoor, loses loved gloves, and sails a 'land... made of water'.

Interspersed with these poems of place and genii loci, are experiments in picking apart the logics of poem-making, both in the song and dance of a baby's first words and in an undoing interface with an Al Large Language Model, doing chaos poetry. Sumption's great achievement here is to marry his ascetic attention to the icy structures of words with a warm melt of associations. Slim the pamphlet is, but thick with affect and meanings."

DOORS - Portals in the psyche Is it possible that the mere act of imagining a door can open a portal to alternative realms of the psyche? Years ago, when he was a psychology undergraduate, directorโ€ฆ

Lovely. It brings to mind (and you might quite like) this short Sheffield documentary made by our good friend Peter Play vimeo.com/883617836

What we're selling doesn't sit well with social media. We're pushing ideas, humanity, the collective. The physical book is none of these things. The alchemy that it sparks in the reader's mind is what is important.

Anyway, here's a picture of some beautiful #Sheffield countryside. #FridayVibes #FF

Callum Bell (author of Collective) will be at Mandala cafรฉ in Heeley, #Sheffield on 12.03.25 @ 7pm. The talk is entitled 'The Dancefloor and the Collective Unconscious'. I've been reading this, and it's great... what do you get when you cross Carl Jung, Rupert Sheldrake, Bernardo Kastrup, and LOTS OF DANCING... why, this book!

Hello world.
We're a new indie publisher based in #Sheffield UK. Our mission is to promote 'positive books for enquiring minds'.

Our first volume is all to do with the collective unconscious and Afro-diasporic music (plus some analysis of neo-liberal capitalism, materialism and individualism)
