04.11.2025 15:29 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0From a musician’s perspective, Spotify is just government-sanctioned piracy. It would be great if the general public was more aware of this.
25.10.2025 09:53 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0What happens in the brain when we manipulate our thoughts?
We asked 30 epilepsy patients to mentally invert short melodies.
Intracerebral #iEEG recordings suggest brain synchrony and sensory inhibition are key for mental manipulation:

You’re right about tools but I’m not sure if ai-based tools would enable people to be more creative (Lazy, if anything!). Bottom line is, you can’t substitute human creativity with ai.
15.10.2025 18:19 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Any existing gen ai system is essentially producing the most probable response to the prompt, given the training set. This makes it, by definition, not creative.
15.10.2025 17:47 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Btw the best part of it was that in the end the guy wanted a new, upgraded Mr Stud. That’s the human condition in the nutshell.

I actually want to save time from doing useless admin stuff, so I can spend MORE time reading, understanding and writing research papers!
I’m driven nuts by the fact that what was once a user manual is now a series of YouTube shorts.
30.09.2025 12:38 — 👍 0 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0Excited to be here in beautiful Maastricht for ICAC 2025! Come see Tomek Domżalski presenting preliminary results from his PhD tomorrow, poster #237. On Thursday, I’ll show fresh results from our study on inharmonicity effects on different auditory features, poster #333.

Try „Titipo the little train”. It’s a Korean cartoon about … little trains. Made two-year-old madness more bearable for both my kids.

11.06.2025 10:33 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 0 📌 0I get that. But perhaps what you achieved with the IIT letter is that it encouraged ppl outside of the consciousness field to be more critical of consciousness theories in general. This might not be very apparent in the discourse but it’s still there.

This indicates that perhaps the brain tries to divide the inharmonic sound into multiple auditory objects.
30.04.2025 13:31 — 👍 3 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0Unexpectedly (and excitingly!), inharmonic sounds had significantly smaller P2 peaks than harmonic sounds - a response pattern known as object-related negativity, previously observed with auditory stream segregation.
30.04.2025 13:30 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0In contrast, MMN responses became undetectable when the jittering pattern changed between consecutive sounds. This suggests that prediction errors are weighted by sequential but not spectral uncertainty.
30.04.2025 13:29 — 👍 1 🔁 0 💬 1 📌 0In this study we used EEG to record MMN and P3a mismatch responses - markers of auditory prediction error. Inharmonic sounds with a constant jittering pattern generated similar MMN and stronger P3a responses than harmonic sounds.
