Whenever people complain about the number of folks relying on food stamps, it is worth reminding them that SNAP is, by too large of a degree, a subsidy for corporations that refuse to pay a living wage and their political allies who reject public policy prescriptions to reduce income inequality.

In this administration?? And given everything they’re doing to destroy voter protections, will we ever have anything but an autocracy led by Republicans going forward?

Here’s what’s at stake in the shutdown:

If Republicans get their way, 50,000 Americans will die unnecessarily every year.

15 million will lose their health care.

20 million will see their premiums double.

All so they can give a trillion dollar tax break to the 1%.

While you’re paying more for groceries, Trump is building himself a new ballroom and buying new private jets. You deserve better.

This is extrajudicial murder. It is illegal and unethical. And it is a pathetic use of American military force, demonstrating not strength but weakness.

This was so unnecessary.
