So many bad decisions were concessions due to what was basically legislative or judicial blackmail, or consequences of having to pander to people due to the political realities of relying on specific blocks of voters in West-Virgina or what have you.

Without wanting to go full apologist, I find this line of reasoning bizarre. Saying that Biden, Obama or even Clinton are proof that Democrats are just as bad as Republicans is bizarre. It's not just a matter of degrees, but they didn't operate in a vacuum! Republican obstruction was a constant!

Wat Nederland nodig heeft is dat de politiek weer gaat werken. Dat vraagt om een fundamentele koerswijziging van het regeerakkoord, want in de plannen die er nu liggen betalen gewone mensen de rekening terwijl de allerrijksten worden ontzien.

Ben bang dat een deel van de VVDers dit zichzelf ook voorhouden. Een lomp populistisch verhaal het voor het klootjesvolk, maar dat ze natuurlijk eigenlijk hele verstandige en goede mensen onder elkaar zijn. We hebben bij de Republikeinen in Amerika gezien hoe diep de rot dan kan groeien.

Het is toch lachwekkend om te lezen, dat de VVD vindt, "dat Jesse Klaver zich volwassenen moet gaan gedragen".

Not sure if Russia is in a position to stop such attacks. But the US definition already has a history of underestimating the complexities of regime change and Trump's simplistic understanding of foreign societies certainly doesn't bode well.

I also wonder what exactly this "help" is supposed to look like. I'm sure they could pull off a bombing campaign of some sort, but how exactly would that be helping these protestors now? This is not an Afghanistan situation where an existing faction could be supported military.
