Political problems are rooted in problems of identity. People must carve out a space for themselves in contemporary life. They don't want to go along with the crowd. They want to feel special. If people tell them to vote for a Democrat, they're not going to do that. They want to feel unique.

When I peruse this website, I don't see people having higher expectations. I see visceral, seething hatred of Democrats. Hatred all out of proportion to Democrats' shortfall. I see people - perhaps unconsciously - trying to outdo each other in their extreme hatred of Democrats.

And if you'd rather have a fascist running the country than a Democrat, then guess what - you are a fascist.

Second, it is edgy edgy leftists who are declaring three years out from the election that they will never ever ever vote for Gavin Newsome when they don't know who is going to run against him. That's idiotic to me.
