I didn’t find this lengthy historical critical article (about turkey red winter wheat and the Mennonites) so if anybody knows what I’m searching for let me know!

Went on a good ol’ fashioned Mennonite history internet tangent hunt.
1. Locating different Mennonite plays/musicals and their sources
2. Trying to find an article I read recently that was skeptical of Mennonites bring red winter wheat with them from Ukraine
3. Browsing articles from Mennonite Life

They don’t even bother denying the corruption and grift.

The free speech activist who built a list of professors he worked to get fired for their speech must be celebrated for his support of free speech, and anyone who quotes his speech accurately in context will be fired and/or face state punishment by the champions of free speech, do I have that right?

Addendum: I posted this before looking at facebook! My timeline is full of lament and mourning for the good christian CK… by boomers and young folks alike. He was everywhere, or at least his influence in death is everywhere around white evangelicals. Wow, I am at a loss. Makes me want to run away.

Being tough on crime actually means making sure people have enough food, healthcare, transportation access, spaces to gather in community, belonging, etc. When those things happen, crime goes down. But that isn’t flashy or retributive enough to get headlines and votes.

All I can pray is, God help me, I don’t have the answers.

Lord have mercy, Christ have mercy.
God who is good and loving, who rejects power to be human in our suffering, who rejects Empire’s injustice, who does not love empty prayers… may my prayers not be empty but whole in actionable love. 8/8

I’m just so at a loss for how to communicate the Gospel with people who saw CK as a “good warrior of the gospel and advancing the Kingdom.” The Gospel of Peace I have been given doesn’t get advanced by warriors like theirs. It gets advanced through loving servants and prophets against Empire. 7/

How do I formulate that huge & complex thought into something that I could then have a conversation with an evangelical who hasn’t really been challenged by society or church with the Gospel in an Anabaptist peacemaking lens. To them Jesus is Lord, but they don’t see that as repudiating Cesar. 6/

What I am trying to formulate is how to express that (from my understanding of CK’s beliefs, because i was not in tune with him, on purpose) my way of following Jesus and reading the Gospel is to turn away from everything people in big MAGA media/politics see Jesus as. 5/

I am reeling from this. The folks on my insta provoking this are salt of the earth folks from small town kansas that I grew up with. I would expect these folks to post about “hating violence” and “thoughts and prayers”, but not overt praise for his good Christian life. 4/

seemingly racist, promoting violent systems and the 2nd amendment, so and so forth. All regular alt right conservative Christian Nationalistic media figure stuff. But then to find out people didn’t just view him as a means to an end like Trump, but they loved him & thought he was a good xian… 3/

Many posted CK’s easter tweet about Jesus dying so we can live. His young audience mourning his death not just as a political commentator but as a good xian came as a surprise. And i’m reeling at how to respond or communicate. My interactions with CK have been through viral clips of him being 2/

The last 24+ hours has rocked me a little. I saw one former classmate post his thanks for CK’s work for the Kingdom of God, another who my fiancee went to school with and works in conservative DC politics posted Matt 5:7 at the end of her euology post. 1/

Political violence is bad. It usually begets more political violence.

Celebrating political violence is bad. It usually encourages more political violence, against various targets.

Campus shootings are bad. They make everyone on campus less safe.

It's bad that what I wrote here is controversial.

Guns are bad, actually.

Minnesota congress representatives were killed in June, now an influential conservative commentator. In this era of rising injustice a country of people who feel desperate will probably turn to violence more and more. We need new systems that honor our lives, not power and money.

So much violence and death. God have mercy on our country that worships and propagates it on every level. May we repent from our 2nd amendments, our hatred for the other, and all forms of injustice that lead to more violence. May we love our enemies, and pray for those who persecute us.

It’s gotta be C because at least the others are either trying to be Christian or are bangers musically!
