A concrete ex: For me, interrogating my idea of "religion" helped me understand at a deeper level one reason why Indigenous peoples across Canada continue to struggle against the gov, because the very way our country's legal systems define religion is in itself a colonial imposition/definition.

A vast number of people in the world *are* religious, however they define it. Education is power here, folks.
Helping people make informed, thoughtful decisions aligned w who they are that they might live better w themselves & their neighbours *is* religious education, I believe.

Religious education (or philosophy of religion?) might be a better antidote to religious indoctrination than simply saying, "It doesn't belong in the public sphere in any way, shape, or form," or playing games around "who gets to choose which religion".

If you're vehemently anti-religion, however you define it, I get it too. In a world of hurt, I think it's totally legit.
But I think prof here is saying something important about the very *notion* of religion itself & how that begs us to ask some deeper, more critical questions.

If you've been deeply hurt by religious communities/people & negatively pushback to this automatically, it makes sense, & I am deeply sorry for your wounds.
If you're sensitive to ideas like this cause you suspect hidden Christian-dominion-y motive behind due to *everything* right now, I get it too.

No offense to Buzzfeed, I'm sorry. If you're reading this Buzzfeed, plz know you provided teenaged me with so much entertainment and wasted summer days. How else would I have known what my chocolate bar choices said about my future? Where else would I have located that quiz and information? Nowhere.

For the record, credit where it's due, "Pastor Buzzfeed" is not my invention for said individual, but I can't for the life of me remember where it comes from. I just remember laughing super hard the first time I heard someone refer to JH as that.
