A skein of grey chenille yarn and a small bobbin of silver thread harvested from an old jumper.
This is just the collar, the chenille yarn is pretty good for a 5+ yr old primark jumper! The silver thread is a bit broken though but itโll be fine for spinning.

The jacket is a Twig + Tale pattern in summer weight wool with a cotton lining. It draws from 18th century short gowns with fantastic elements like the pixie hood and lace up back.
The skirt it self-drafted and is wool. It draws from petticoats of the 18th and 19th centuries with a bib tie construction and slits for pockets, but has a 1940s look.
I haven't been sewing because of all of *shakes hands around*, but I took Friday off work to finish this jacket that I had in pieces on my sewing table. I โฅ๏ธhow this outfit draws from many historical periods & makes me feel like I am ready to step into a fantasy novel. Info in alt text.

A large Regency house. Two sisters named Emilia and Charlotte talk on an upper floor.
"Mister Blackwell has come to call again." says Emilia as she looks out of the window "Oh, how I despise his uncouth manners and electric bicycle!"
Charlotte says "Sister, you will end up a spinster if you insist on a historically accurate suitor."
and continues "The romance novel has changed, Emilia, and so must we."
Emilia replies "Easy for you to say. You are engaged to the richest werewolf in the county!"
They are walking through the house.
Charlotte says "Look at Cousin Lucy: She is quite plain, yet made a most advantageous match with the dragon queen of nalthrax."
"True." says Emilia opening the door.
The tall, solid figure of Miuster Blackwell stands at the door wearing a top hat and tailcoat:
"Ladies, I triumphed In my ice hockey match and won ten thousand a year in sponsorship! Miss Emilia, will you be my bride?" he is holding a hockey stick.
Emilia swoons into Charlotte's arms.

โNorwegian Revival
In the latter part of the 19th century, Norway's artists, writers, composers, and historians looked to their country's medieval past to assert their desire for political independence. Traditional folk tales and Norse mythology inspired a generation of artists to adapt fantastical motifs for silver, furniture, tapestries, and even architecture. Medieval stave churches-timber structures once common in Norway and increasingly rare after the 16th century-often included intricate decoration with interlaced patterns and dragon motifs. These sources inspired a new style that emerged in the 1890s, known as Dragon Style. Lars Kinsarvik, a wood carver and furniture maker, became the style's leading proponent.
Similarly, Norwegian painter Gerhard Munthe helped to formulate what he termed a "Norwegian national style,' a modern aesthetic rooted in traditional rural culture. Munthe explored folk tales and mythology in a distinctively bold abstract style that incorporated the influences of Japanese art and European Art Nouveau with inspiration from medieval tapestries and colorful hand-painted folk art. In the 1890s, he began to produce tapestry designs (woven by his wife Sigrun Sandberg and female artisans at Trondheim's Art Weaving School), contributing to a textile renaissance in Norway. His tapestries, critically acclaimed at the
1900 Paris World's Fair, shaped Norway's national identity abroad in the years leading up to its independence in 1905.โ

Laid out against a dark grey background are ten biscuits that resemble aged, chipped mudlarking finds. An oval biscuit in a rich, dark green looks like the seal of a glass bottle, and features a raised characterful face at its centre. Next to it is an unevenly shaped black biscuit with grey chips and the raised shape of a hareโs face, ears, and upper legs. There are two large biscuits with jagged edges, each decorated in blue and white to look like broken pieces of delftware plates. One features the shape of a small bird surrounded by swirling lines, the other has a series of concentric circles and curved shapes. A small biscuit with a multifaceted texture replicates a knapped flint arrowhead. Next to it are a tiny hammer-shaped biscuit in pewter with delicate cross markings, and a very small gold biscuit button etched with lines, circles, and a rough star shape. The smallest biscuit is made to look like a yellow glass cufflink with decorative circles in blue, white, and red. Another small biscuit has the appearance of an aged metal button edged with decorative white and turquoise dots. Finally, there is a small angular biscuit in a terracotta colour with raised lines roughly in the shape of two intwined figures.
Some mudlarking finds survived for centuries in the muddy banks of the River Thames. Others are freshly baked tasty snacks. ๐ช
This biscuit (cookie) set recreates ten of the 350+ mudlarked objects in London Museum's Secrets of the Thames exhibition.
The exhibition closes on 1 March. Donโt miss it!

The same ceramic sphinx in the last post now digitally illustrated.
In the top panel it sits with a giant grin, speaking. The text reads "A man in a car saw a golden door, a silver door, and a bronze door. Which door did he open first? The car door!"
Bottom left it goes flying through the air, mouth open in a snarl. The text reads "Riddle failed! (Mind you they are the size of a kitten, don't worry about it). Bottom right shows them curled up on their back, blissfully relaxed, eyes closed for a nap. The text reads "Two minutes later". Scattered throughout the illusration are three small, simple doodles, looking up in wonder at a flowering plant, on its back, legs sticking straight up with a frustrated expression, and the last one; tail high with a happy smile.
I've been so tickled after making the ceramic sphinx in my last post that I couldn't help but draw them for some fun this weekend :)
