Gilded bronze snake bracelet, with curved snake head terminals at either end. The body of the coiled bracelet is made of two medium thick wires of bronze twisted about one another. Thereβs a feather or vegetal pattern on the backs of the snake head terminals, reminiscent of the βagathadaemonβ snakes, which brought luck and fertility. Chips of gilding have worn off to reveal the dark bronze beneath.
They say βfake it βtil you make itβ, which might have proved embarrassing to the woman who once wore this snake bracelet, if the gilding chipped off at a party β¦ to reveal the bronze beneath. Discount luxury, same as it ever was. πΊ 1/

β’ reasonably sturdy paper (think cardstock)

β’ an embroidery needle
β’ stuffing (I use textile scraps)
β’ twine or cord (for hanging)

#SewAndTell Repair week is timely - this morning I heard an awful rip when I put on my coat, the armpit seam popped! The fabric was undamaged so it was just a matter of ladder stitching the seam shut again. I used this vintage synthetic silk doubled for extra strength.

A friend who teaches theology shared with me a post about CS Lewis's Mere Christianity, which discusses foundational Christian logic across denominations. It reminded me of Dale's tweet below, and I wanted to share some thoughts here regarding modesty and respectability, which are often hot topics.
