For what it's worth Jacob Lawrence was a huge fan of libraries and made many images of them over the years. I love his 1979 screenprint "The Library" for featuring a library worker in the foreground, pushing a cart full of books

Alcatraz Island at night the waters are rough and stormy the search light shines a bright yellow light across the sky as we look closer we see men in a makeshift raft paddling for their life
The waves are crashing against their pathetic raft one of the men fall out of the boat. We see his hands sinking below the waves.
One of the men who did not fall off the boat screams, trying to save the one who did but it's too late
Finally, unsure the two surviving men look across the bay at Alcatraz Island
