A collage of six staggered vertical pictures. Half of the photos are of seed packets with a small dish of seeds next to them on a rust colored rug. The seeds are for abashi goya, round okra, and roselle hibiscus. Interspersed are pictures of plant seedlings in black plastic pots placed on a stump with a beige background. They aren't labeled, but there's a goya plant, fuchibaa mugwort, and roselle hibiscus.

This is the whole entire reason I started farming

Yeah that was a hard no from me. Luckily I didn't need much from him and didn't have to wait months for that appointment. I've had good luck recently with the specialists that really matter!!

Totally gaslit me when I said I didn't think those results were right (BECAUSE I HADN'T TAKEN THE TEST YET), then realized he was in the wrong room and blamed the nurse 💀💀💀 those follow ups were cancelled so fast

He also started the appointment by barging in the room and silently staring at my mom in confusion for a full minute (she was there because she pushed me in my wheelchair), not addressing it, then giving me someone else's test results (for the test I was there for but hadn't taken yet).

A few weeks ago, a new doc said I don't have a disease because "it's really rare," even though I have all the symptoms for it and it's a common comorbidity of my other diagnoses. I asked what specifically made him think that, and he kept repeating "it's rare". Cancelled all other appts with him 🙄

Top-down view of a brown pitbull with her head on my lap (on top of the heated blanket, obviously). A stack of medical paperwork is held off to the side since her head is in the way of where they had been

Should I fill out the 22 pages of medical paperwork I need to finish tonight or pet the puppy?

I know that's not exactly what you were saying, but letting go of that stress of how I'm showing up and being perceived has been so liberating

Thiiiiiis. I've been thinking about a disability version of this so much lately. Haven't showered in 9 days and my hair is disgusting? Whatever, the people who care about me won't care. If I have enough energy to either shower or see someone, I'm gonna show up nasty every time now

Absolutely!! I've been processing health changes with her small pieces at a time, but she said hearing about the symptoms all together gave her a better understanding of what my day to day life is like. So validating to have someone put that kind of time in to know me

Screenshot of a text conversation. The first text is a YouTube link for a video named "How Ehlers Danlos Syndrome Affects My Life" and says "Been watching this... may be something that resonates and connects you with the community of folks who are experiencing what you are". I respond and say "Thank you for sending, I just watched the whole thing! She has the same set of diagnoses that I do". The original sender says "Even the MCAS" and I say "Yeah, the MCAS and POTS" and she replies "Wow!"

My therapist apparently has been learning about my chronic illnesses on her own time to better understand what I'm dealing with and I could CRY, I'm so grateful

A dark green, rectangular piece of fabric hung from a wall with text out of the frame on its left side. On the fabric is a pattern of long, skinny, darker green leaves and four shell ginger flowers, which are long clusters of hanging pink and white buds. At the base of each flower cluster, some of the buds have bloomed and are yellow on the inside.

A two tiered lacquer box with a lid on a yellow square of fabric. The box is bright red and has images of banana leaves and banana bunches on the lid and on each tier of the box. The leaves come from the edges and point towards the middle.

I am now on the hunt for this exact textile (I was told it's dyed with sugarcane juice AND it's gettou/sannin/shell ginger, which I have desperately been trying to grow for the past two years) and an Okinawan jubako (I have a Japanese jubako and have been wondering if there were Okinawan ones!)

A white wall with four partially visible recipe posters. The one in focus is a recipe for jīmāmi tofu, or tofu made out of peanuts instead of soy beans. It has the ingredients and directions listed and a picture of a square serving of jīmāmi tofu in a blue dish.

Visited the Okinawa Memories Initiative exhibit on Okinawan food culture at UCSC yesterday. They did such an amazing job, I took pictures of every single thing there. And they made goya champuru!

Bay Area Japanese Americans Draw on WWII Trauma to Resist Deportation Threats | KQED President Donald Trump’s campaign pledge to use the Alien Enemies Act of 1798 to expedite deportations has rekindled trauma for Japanese Americans who were relocated and imprisoned during World War II...

Many Japanese Americans are recoiling from Trump's immigration crackdown. “This brings back all kinds of memories, even tears,” said one 91-year-old Berkeley resident. “You don’t think I’d remember much, but it’s amazing how much I do.” www.kqed.org/news/1202191... via @kqednews.bsky.social

Decided to make mochi for him to bring an hour before he had to leave and did not do well under the time pressure.... the ones he brought were all filled with sesame paste and not the most structurally sound 😬

My partner has a game night tonight. Someone brought Christmas cookies for everyone in Dec and I thought "ooh that's so sweet, we should do something for LNY"

Thought I was too tired to celebrate soogwachi, but rallied and made black sesame mochi (some filled with sesame paste, but got overwhelmed by sticky fingers and rolled the rest in sesame seeds)
