I just had a thought about how its really interesting the gnosia anime went all in on 'we have to be careful because this loop is these ppl's only worldline'

When in game even if you Know that, the gameplay reinforces a kind of timeloop compassion fatigue where sometimes you act cruelly for a goal

I wonder why they did it this way? Isn't Setsu the most popular Gnosia character, and the most important to the overall narrative? What are we doing here? Honestly, I can't tell if the writers of the anime are even aware of what they're doing to Setsu's character.

It feels like there was so much missed potential. Since the anime was announced, seeing Setsu and their big events like Setsu's Origin was what I was most excited for. So, seeing them end up almost like an entirely different character was crushing.

I can see what you mean. I imagine if I had never played the game, I'd actually like anime Setsu a lot, or would at least have much fewer gripes with their characterization. I just can't really watch the anime without comparing it to the game and thinking "what the hell are they doing with Setsu?"

I think I would like anime Setsu better if the writers were able convince me that Setsu's refusal to share information with Yuri made sense. "One of us might be Gnosia" felt more like an excuse to me. In general, I just really love Setsu's relationship with the player, so I was disappointed by this.

I can appreciate that, but I still feel there are a lot of strange decisions regarding their character that doesn't really explain. For example, making them generally much less helpful as partner, and more distant. Or, the anime rushing through their events.

I wonder how many people will just think, "well, that was a nice show" and never see the real ending...

I've just realized that if the Gnosia anime skips next week, then resumes airing episodes on Saturdays, the finale will air on White Day. That's clever enough that it almost would make me forgive the strange pacing decisions so far, which let the normal ending premiere on Valentine's Day.
