GM Tip: If you want tension, give the players more things to do than they can possibly handle. This way they have to pick and prioritise. Show that the clock is always ticking and the world won't just stop to wait while they resolve their current plot hook.

Easy way to improve your TTRPG story line: Add more weird little guys.

Don't know what the merchant should be like? Weird little guy. Can't think of how to deliver a hook? Weird little guy shows up. Party in danger? Surprise, weird little guy to the rescue.

Weird little guys are story line glue.

You know that saying "No matter how slow you're going, you're lapping everyone on the couch"?

That's basically blogging and game design. If you're like, putting words on paper? You're lapping everyone who just has the ideas.

A promotional image for the TTRPG Starship Odyssey. It features this text in front of a view of space:

Starship Odyssey

Embark aboard the *Starship Odyssey*, a gleaming, near-utopic starship-city serving as humanity's gleaming yet unexpected final ark. Within its sectors, you'll explore a vibrant solarpunk community rich in interspecies art, high-stakes diplomacy, and cosmic discovery. The diverse communities await your influence to tip the scales as tensions rise towards conflict. *Powered by the Apocalypse*-based mechanics encourage narrative choices and invite players to become magiartists, technomancers, and galactic ascetics. As members of a new cohort aboard the ship, you’ll uncover a tangled web of politics and celestial mysteries. Discover a personal identity on the *Odyssey*. Forge friendships across boundaries. Navigate faction alliances. Shape the future of humanity in ways only you can, as every decision echoes through the cosmos and determines the fate of all aboard.

People act like chronic illness is a vacation, where you get to stay in bed & have your needs met by others

The truth is it’s a constant battle. Against your body, against ableism, against poverty & against a medical system that doesn’t know how to help you

There’s no break. It’s a 24/7 job

Role-playing games are scavenger media, in which available materials -- whatever's at hand: stuff you've read, stuff you've experienced, stuff you're anxious about, stuff you wish would happen -- are then transformed into an emergent narrative via active engagement by one or more players.

When you’re chronically ill, your baseline is everything.

The non disabled can’t possibly fathom the amount of time & energy that goes into maintaining what’s left of our health.

It takes ages to make the tiniest gains, and only split seconds to lose them.

Be kind. Respect our boundaries.

"It’s easy to forget that we are the culture. That our voluntary actsβ€”where we shop, what we buy, what we read and watch, what we celebrate and share, how we build communities of careβ€”that those things are what define the culture."
