This is very real with all of the humanities if you’ve managed to make a career out of them. We are supposed to be so awed and feel so lucky to be there in the first place, ‘chosen’ to do a sacred cultural duty, that we’re meant to accept all manner of sins in order to maintain our presence.

i would say that to a person in real life. therefore. its realistic.

revising a draft and i cant stop thinking about how one of the antagonists says the sentence "you have wrong place wrong time disease" to the protagonists.

why did i think that was good dialogue. or anything a human being would say in real life. my editors saw that draft.

in the same way that a jrpg set in Japanese High School is of a Time and a Place, i'd make an argument that undertale is Pretty American.

the specific experience of "watching television when youre a small child" nostalgia, etc. where not everything is going to hit exactly that nostalgic note for every single person, but probably SOME part of it will. the other thing i thought was interesting was how american the nostalgia is.

so j and i have been playing All of Deltarune again to 100% it (because this might be relevant later...) and its really interesting how effectively it creates nostalgia on a bunch of different levels. for example: chapter 3 is old video game nostalgia, old game show nostalgia,
