As someone who has spent 2 decades building AI products (and believes that AI can do much good), I'm horrified by this likelihood.

I'd guess it's a simple reason - many folks have their notetaker set to automatically attend all their meetings. So, it's more they just didn't show up (and webinar no-shows are often 50-75%) but their note-taker still did. Less an active decision, than just their configuration.

I get much more annoyed when note takers (without their "humans") show up at meetings where I expect all participants to interact.

TBF, a webinar seems the perfect place to send a note taker. They are one-way conversations - not a place where participants typically interact (other than maybe Q&A via chat). Why not send a note taker, so I get a transcript and a video I can watch at 1.3x on my own time?

Cutting back on my substacks - and this one, trying to position Bill Kristol as an early voice warning of MAGA and right-wing extremists - made this an easy one to chop.

And worth keeping in mind that that MAGA wants us to share that crap. Abusing immigrant families? They want to scare off all immigrants, including those fully documented.

Of course that’s the point. No company would invest in all of these grants to fund early stage drug discovery.
The NIH fills that void.
And when that drug goes on to become a huge success, it’s the drug maker that reaps the rewards.
That’s how our capitalist system works.
