My father in law passed this weekend at the grand age of 90. He played rugby for Munster, he trained as an electrician, be built up a firm of 300 electricians (Kirby Electrical now employ c. 2500), retired at 60 and created a new life as an esteemed judge of terriers. Rest in peace Michael

My dad always called to school insisting the translation of my name Jeremiah is Diarmuid.

My beautiful granny Nora lived in my family home. She was born in 1898; saw war of independence, burning of Patrick’s Street, funeral of Michael Collins. She was widowed in her 40’s and lived to 93.

She loved life, family, stories & cooking.

Gotta love New York State. Fabulous forests upstate. Biodiversity is hugely supported. Spent time in Ithaca this fall. Houses built in forest. No fences. No boundaries. Trees grow right up to houses. If that was ireland we would clear fell. Sell wood for lumber and sell land for sites.

Had a summer when I read only Murakami. Norwegian Wood is my favourite.

Bought this; was just going to read first page, and then I was finished.

Picked up “So late in the Day” in a book store and after an hour realised I had read from start to finish.
