Frank Boucher was such a clean player in the NHL, the league eventually just gave him the Lady Byng Trophy to keep.
He won the award for Most Gentlemanly Player seven times in eight years. He also innovated many aspects of the game as a coach.
This is his story.

This black-and-white photograph captures IMAX co-founder and cinematographer Graeme Ferguson with gray hair intently peering through the viewfinder of a large IMAX camera mounted on a tripod, adjusting it with one hand. He wears a light-colored jacket and lanyard, set in an outdoor stadium with overhead lights, beams, and a blurred crowd in the background, evoking a 1980s film production scene.
On this day in 1929, Graeme Ferguson was born in Toronto.
An experimental filmmaker, he was a co-founder of IMAX. He served as president of IMAX from 1970 to 1990. He was awarded a Special Achievement Genie in 1983 and the Order of Canada in 1992. He died in 2021.

A large wooden barrel with a carved figure of a man wearing a red shirt and white apron, holding a hand to his mouth as if shouting, stands outdoors. The scene features a clear blue sky with scattered clouds, green trees, and three flagpoles with flags, including a Canadian flag. A signpost nearby reads "Legend of the Dungarvon Whooper," detailing a 19th-century tale of a young cook named Ryan who was murdered in a lumber camp near the Dungarvon River, followed by eerie whooping sounds and screams heard for years. The photo includes a link to a website about the legend.
If you visit the Miramichi River Valley in New Brunswick, you are entering the region known for one of the most famous bits of folklore in Canadian history...The Dungarvon Whooper.
While the Whooper is said to be long gone, the legend remains.
This is the story!

A black-and-white illustration depicting a dense forest with tall pine trees, engulfed in smoke and flames. In the foreground, a person on horseback appears to be fleeing or fighting, while another figure is visible amidst the burning trees. The scene is chaotic, with smoke swirling through the trees, and the title "La forΓͺt en feu" is written below.
On this day in 1825, the Miramichi Forest Fire destroyed the New Brunswick communities of Douglastown and Newcastle. It also destroyed 1/3 of the homes in Fredericton. At least 160 people were killed. The fire burned one-fifth of the forests in New Brunswick.

He is on the ice, holding a hockey stick, and wearing full hockey gear, including a helmet with a visor. The background shows a blurred crowd in the stands.
On this day in 1986, Steve Yzerman was named captain of the Detroit Red Wings at the age of 21. He remained captain for 19 seasons, longer than anyone else in North American sports history. Sidney Crosby will tie this record in the 2025-26 season.

While much of this film stays true-ish to the story, there were some rather large changes to the life of Bill Lishman.
At least they kept the setting in Canada though...

The first Supreme Court of Canada robes were red wool baize that were lined with silk and trimmed with Russian ermine.
Various changes were made to the robes over the decades, primarily to make the robes lighter.
This change ends the tradition of using mink fur.
