A busy couple of days in the Physics department Swansea University. #FromSwanseaToTheStars yesterday with some stellar spectroscopy and then Particle physics masterclass today with our #PhysicsWorkExp students and students from as far as London! Was a pleasure to see all the enthusiasm!

These telescopes will be intro to observing then move them onto bigger telescopes which they'll have to learn to set up properly etc & maybe do variable star photometry.

π @esa.int's Milky Way-mapper #Gaia has completed the sky-scanning phase of its mission. Over the last decade, it has made over three trillion observations of about two billion stars and other objects, revolutionising the view of our home galaxy and cosmic neighbourhood.

During its final few months of life, some technical tests will be performed, during which it will be much easier to see from Earth than usual. ESA published a guide on how to try and take photographs of the satellite:
