Who is dressing him nowadays?

England playing with nine men and Overton. I'd be surprised if India didn't win at a canter.

OI! I've heard our yet-to-be launched third kit features tweed jackets and knitted ties - in homage to Alan Bennett.

He has trace elements of modern day Andrew Ridgeley. Karen Pirie is absolutely top drawer Cupra Drama.

Oof. That's harsh.

I always seem to get replies wrong on here.

Never saw them live. I'm not overly keen on any of the post-IRS records apart from Document, though up to New Adventures they all have their moments. I think it's interesting that they went from being so massive to relative obscurity quite rapidly.

Murmur is great but Reckoning is even better and is probably REM's best album. Is this a hot take? Does anyone think about REM anymore? They seem to have disappeared from view.

Exactly. The Heaven In A Wild Flower comp came out in '85, I believe, but was strictly for the real heads at that stage. I wasn't really aware of him until after I'd left university.

I'd have said Ride's Going Blank Again was the record that first turned the indie kids on to Nick Drake - a year before Wild Wood. But your point stands re full mainstream recognition.

No idea - I'm working so, like you, I was following via text updates. But did't see anyone being slated so...

Yeah. That's fine. At least none of the new signings were revealed to be an absolute donkey.

Significant potential for being a massive vibes-killer, too.

Bit of a surprise to see a former England rugby union inernational (Will Greenwood) looking like a member of Spiral Tribe.

Brigitte Neilson, who was on the arm of Mick Hucknall, cadged a cig off me - a poor student - in the Hacienda.

In TV and film drama, all match-going football fans wear pristine and identical scarves in club colours. #mixtape

I know only a few of their/his records - there's a lot of them - but I think he has a real way with a lyric and a tune.

Spent the evening reacquainting myself with the work of The Mountain Goats. Darnielle's voice grates at times but, boy, can he write a lyric. And a tune. He's incredible, tbh.

Wonderful singer. It's probably not for everyone but I really like this oblique tribute to him. music.youtube.com/watch?v=Fxj2...

Not really - if you book the Eurostar as soon as the tickets come out. Internal fares are very decent prices. Obvs, nice accommodation adds a lot. Luckily, T enjoys sorting out the logistics.

Also done London to Cologne via Brussels in a day then down the Rhine to the Black Forest. And London to Perpignan on the way to a walk that went from Southern France to the Costa Brava then back from Girona (to London) in a day. (I realise this is too much info!)

Going out we did: Skipton to London - overnight stay/London to Lyon - overnight stay/ Lyon to Avignon. Coming back we did the same route all in a day. Leaving at 07:15 and getting home at 21:20ish. You've got to regard the travel as part of the holiday, I guess - but I really enjoy it.
