This government is now singling out an unknown number of people who crossed the Channel - detaining them, blocking their asylum claims and rushing them back to France. We stand firm in defending everyone's right to seek asylum.

Home Office to publish nationalities of foreign criminals in UK Government wants public to be better informed about foreign criminals but critics say it could reinforce prejudices

Our Director, James Wilson, has responded by saying:

β€œThe government risks feeding further division, dehumanisation and prejudice in our communities. It is the role of the criminal justice system to prosecute individuals, not whole communities.”

This evening, the government broadcast shocking footage of people being taken from detention centres and led - by force - onto deportation flights. One man was even shown being taken on board in restraints.

Join us in telling the government: These are people, not pawns.

Deportations reach five-year high despite concerns of rights groups Campaigners fear lives could be put at risk as government sets record number of deportations

Over years, we've seen how mass, forced deportations can deny people access to justice, cause unnecessary harm and distress, and tear loving parents from their children in the UK. We urge the government to end this practice and adopt a more humane approach

Inspections repeatedly reveal that the UK’s detention centres have fundamental failings that deny 1000s of people their rights and do serious damage to their health. Meanwhile, the cost of detention (per person per day) rose 31% since 2017, though more than 50% of people detained are later released.
