Fair enough, I've been stuck on C++17 for so long I tend to forget it's in 20, lol.

This is specifically what std::span is for (C++20 onwards). It’s unfortunately something that took a while to be added. In older versions, there are several standard library add on libraries that provide similar functionality (eg folly::ByteRange)
std::array/vector are owning so cannot ever do this
