I wouldn’t put it like that. Claude saw an opportunity to take out Rhea. Dimitri is just in the way and Adrestia under Edelgard had goals he agreed with.

Adrestia under Thales not so much and was a bigger threat to Claude’s goals so Claude approached Dimitri with an alliance

It’s actually Scarlet Blaze. They do things for that route that they don’t for the other two routes. You also get most of the Deer there.

In AG, you only get Ignatz, Raphael, Lorenz and Marianne. Of those, only Marianne is popular.

My theory is that the writers were finding it stale to rehash the same dynamics so they did it this way. It’s also potentially why cross-house supports from Three Houses aren’t redone and they pivot toward giving characters new cross-house supports to keep it fresh.

In reality, the game’s a spiritual sequel. The writers wanted to explore characters and their dynamics in a post-game Three Houses but are using Three Hopes to do it. Thats why some supports like Claude’s with Lysithea, Lorenz & Marianne are in reality sequels to their Houses supports.

It’s a valid theory. I’m personally not a believer in it because of 3 Hopes where school ends early so she doesn’t get to bond as much with the other students before timeskipping and yet she’s still around after the timeskip.

An important part of Hubert's character is that he is not gentle, bad at being gentle and he is self-aware about it. I'd say there are moments where he's trying later but it doesn't come easy to him and he'd much rather outsource it to others he thinks are good at it. ---
