Mom of 3, rug hooker, huge reader of romance & historical fiction, lover of history, Children's librarian. Fortunate to live in the very blue state of MD. Having finally embraced my geekdom, I happily have a 'I break for historical markers' car magnet!
Celebrate!!
03.02.2026 21:36 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Wow - I absolutely couldn't tell! 'Ouch', 'that back is absolutely georgeous', 'she is absolutely stunning', 'isn't she cold' & 'is she going to wear that for the entire ceremony?' were my first thoughts.
Can you tell I'm a parent?
Really -- it was irking me!! π
Still, I like my selection...I only read it a year or two ago, and it is still absolutely powerful. So many of the traditional 'classics' don't land as well now.
All Quiet on the Western Front.
1929
It really stands the test of time.
I'm going to find one!! So far, I've got 1966 & 1951! :)

Fun week of reading!
Reading it now! Just put the tablet down to charge! :)

Dem's are already on board.
Rug hooking pattern on linen with black patterns lines showing a spider's web in beading in progress.
What's the yarn you are using? I love the look of it hooked!
Here's what I'm starting - taking a Jane McGowen Flynn pattern (Color Play) and experimenting with different techniques.
I want to see the rug!! :)
17.01.2026 14:40 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Enjoy your trip - looks amazing!
Nice to remember the wonders in this world!
They are the same ones that ignored the Officers on Jan. 6th. The hypocrisy astounds me.

05.01.2026 20:54 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Also: I have. I don't expect to get in, but I'm hoping I get feedback. Any chance to learn. :)

Or write an article about your process of creating & applying for the exhibition...
100%! I'm glad it's not just me!
I'd definitely consider submitting that to RHM's Celebrations next year!
Do you ever go back through and fill in some of the gaps or areas you missed hooking? I spend what is probably *way* too much time hooking off frame to catch those spots I missed initially...
04.01.2026 19:29 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0That is absolutely amazing!! Going back through your posts for the front!
04.01.2026 19:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0An absolute favorite of mine - gave it to my 20 year old for Chanukkah!
04.01.2026 16:23 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I'm assuming you know about Escape from Mr. Lemoncello's Library & Mysterious Benedict Society.
The Mystery of Locked Rooms by Lindsay Currie is a definite read alike.
Also try Candymakers by Wendy Mass - has a neat combination of mystery & spy story set during a candy making competition.
The Everlasting (fantasy) by Alex E. Harrow is definitely a page turner.
I discovered Darby Kane's Pretty Little Wife (domestic thriller) on Twitter with the teaser 'My husband is missing. His body is not where I put it'.
I still think about Renee Watson's Skin & Bones & Elana Knows by Pinero.
I don't count every book I look at, but if it has potential and goes on a list, I count it.
It's really the best way to remember titles from 6 months ago, IMO.
You *absolutely* need to count your storytime read alouds!!
We review all the new Children's books' that come in. I've created GR shelves for possible storytime books, possible programs, potential summer reading books (ones that will be better for Elementary aged kids), etc.

My Year in Fiber
'Grace' was my word of 2025, but expect it to last the entire Trump Presidency as a reminder to give others and ourselves Grace during this turbulent period.
Goodreads Year in Books 66,369 ages and 286 books read

Caveat for books: I'm a Children's Librarian, and put board books, picture books, etc down as potential storytime, possible programs, or lists for Professional articles.
I'll release my 5* books in a few days
The forehead ones were *never* consistent for us! We switched to the regular under the tongue pretty quickly..
HATED those! Totally forgot about it until your post!
In 2023 I became obsessed with videos of dads in cargo shortswaiting in parking lots during Taylor Swift's Eras Tour. So when she came to town, I grabbed a camera and headed down to talk to them. I thought it'd be funny. It turned out to be something else entirely.
