one of the "possible solves" that comes up in here is losses count toward lotto odds before the trade deadline, and wins boosts lotto odds after it. topically enough, a team like the wizards poking around trae young was one of our potential unintended consequences of such a move.

It was also a ploy to make the product more valuable for broadcast partners ahead of a new tv deal. It seems to have reduced those load-management absences, but i'm not sure the difference is meaningful. My argument is mostly against the rule as it pertains to awards decisions.
