I might have to do an essay called “The Straight Washing of Spock,” because people really don’t seem to understand the history of Kirk/Spock or its importance to sci-fi fandom. Roddenberry deliberately refused to define their sexuality, and Joanna Russ even argued that not knowing was the point—that in a better future, it wouldn’t matter. Making Spock explicitly straight in Strange New Worlds flattens all of that history.

Honestly incredible to think of somehow being Out of Ideas with a premise as open and limitless as star trek, but by god paramount pulls it off

I hate that everything has to be digital (exccept for video games). I prefer to have a physical copy (movies, books, comics, games, etc.) that I can hold in my hands or put on a shelf.

and TMP is incredibly poetic and philosophical to me, which is why I will also love this movie till the end of time. Its story pushes the viewer to question, to pause to think, to admire. It's not meant to be an action movie and thank fuck it isn't.

A vendor from a local grocery store saw my roommate (born female, currently doing paperwork for their FTM transition). We often go there. He asked them "Where's your husband?", to which they replied ''I'm not married.'' ''Your boyfriend, then?" "Nope.'' "You should get yourself one!" "No thanks.''

I do apologize for my emotional rant. It is an embarrassment. The current US government must be overturned and capitalism questioned. Trek's initial premise has been overlooked in SNW and I am only watching the show to know what happens and how it ends when it does. Money like that is badly invested

justified by Spock's personal growth, when he's barely grown at all in over two seasons. If there is one thing about Spock's character that needs the least interest, it is the romance. The way I see it, what he has with Kirk in TOS goes even beyond romance, if that makes sense

(minus the racism and sexism) and your Point 3 points to their decidedly conservative trajectory, when it pertains to writing for the show. Roddenberry knew not to make a joke of Spock, so why would ''modern'' writers not get that and trample all over him? Their writing level will never, ever, be

THIS. As others and you have also noticed, La'an's character has been softer for a few episodes already & that romance with Spock is wrong on several levels. Your Point 2! No, women do not need a man nor do their main dreams consist of finding a man/partner. TOS IS what we miss in nowadays TV...

That episode was infuriating. It was like being treated like inferior, dumb individuals. No subtlety whatsoever, no political message. And I sure hope that Kirk sequel will never happen, because they'll only know how to disrespect it.

"Invasora" means invader in spanish, this was a commission for a friend and the only flowers she could think of were Pennisetum setaceum, Nicotiana glauca and Carpobrotus, all invasive plants she was studying for her thesis.
