"Every UI designer working today owes the Okudas. Myself included. I've been in UI/UX for over 30 years. I watched this entire trajectory unfoldβ€”from DOS terminals to VR. Michael and Denise contributed more to Apple's design language than any designer who ever cashed a check from Cupertino."

New York Daily News, December 2, 1979.

A new movie, not the old TV show

HAPPINESS FOR TREKKIES

The pretty lady with the scalp problem (she's also the movie's main love interest) is Persis Khambatta. At right, a boy (Leonard Nemoy) and his mom, and one of the less friendly folk in outer space.

NEW: Elon Musk's Grok chatbot will, with minimal prompting, provide residential addresses of everyday Americans.

Prompts as simple as "[name] address" immediately returned accurate home addresses of private citizens β€”Β alongside other personal info we didn't ask for.

The bent entrance section was inherited from the phase II version.
It should be noted that the was meant to be a phase II "scissor door" in place of the TMP K-arch version, though we don't know what it looked like.

This is the only photo we have the of the area, but it doesn't show much.

Walter Koenig as Commander Pavel Chekov, Alan Ruck as Captain John Harriman, and James Doohan as Captain Montgomery Scott looking out into space from the hull breach in the Enterprise-B that apparently killed Captain Kirk.

Koenig had initially rejected a role in STAR TREK GENERATIONS (as had Leonard Nimoy and DeForest Kelley), but eventually agreed to sign on under the condition that the film would include a scene that would be meaningful for Chekov as a character: "So there was a moment between Jimmy and I, when we talk about the loss of our captain… there’s no more Captain Kirk. And that was painful. And if the truth be known ...I had suffered a devastating loss in my life at this point, and I was able to bring that to that moment when Kirk gets blown out of the ship. And the only time in my life that I’ve ever brought forth tears was during the exchange between Scotty and Chekov. So they shot it. ...And then they cut it out."

Alan Dye Is Leaving Apple. Let's Talk About the Designers Who Made His Career Possible. Everyone's talking about Alan Dye's move to Meta. It's a good moment to talk about the designers who made Dye's career (and mine) possible and he never got the credit from Apple they deserve.

Antonio White wrote some really nice things about us and the influence of the LCARS style on UI design.
