The constitution gives the party president the powers that it does; if the president then wants to go on TV a bunch, the constitution can't really do anything about that right?

It got changed to something like "primary voice of the membership"

@eddavey.libdems.org.uk has written to Kemi Badenoch to give her the chance to reject these divisive calls from her frontbencher Katie Lam.
Average Tory leadership hopeful: we should re-establish the Raj. Let's have a fifth Anglo-Asante war. I do not think that Romanians count as people on a legal or metaphysical level.
Labour response: after 14 years of Tory mismanagement only Labour can be trusted to strip Romanians of their souls.
and indeed Tories losing far more voters to Reform than the Lib Dems nevertheless causes a transfer of seats to the Lib Dems, especially where the Lib Dems consolidate the anti-Reform vote

Having fun with @artie-k.bsky.social on the @pluslibdems.bsky.social and @libdemwomen.bsky.social stall at #sldconf sending the message that we stand together and support each other. We are talking about Council elections and medical misogyny.
18.10.2025 12:04 β π 18 π 5 π¬ 1 π 2I agree, but, I mean that's, what the bathroom ban *is*: a breach of trans people's dignity and safety. As long as it's a specific criticism and not a generic platitude, I don't see anything wrong with using the words that describe the bad thing.
14.10.2025 13:02 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have to believe that those values are still broadly held, and this country can and will be that again.
It's very stark how the rot's come from the top even in this age of highly decentralised communications.

19.09.2025 10:14 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0High quality surveys such as BES show that most (not all!) of the voter movement is intra block, ie Con -> Ref and Lab -> Lib/Plc/Grn. The percentage swings we see here will be down to differential turnout i.e. loyal Labour voters staying at home and habitual non voters coming out for Reform.
19.09.2025 09:38 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0Starmer has pulled out all the stops to flatter and impress Trump, but still hasnβt managed to get him to drop his damaging tariffs, take on Putin or tell Netanyahu to stop waging genocide.
Itβs time for the UK to stand tough with allies who share our values.
BREAKING NEWS:
I am thrilled to be able to report that after a discussion with JPAC, JPAC has agreed to update it's position statement to make it clear that trans people haemoglobin levels should be tested against their hormonal levels, not their Sex at Birth.

I will not be dragged to the right by media hysteria over immigration. It remains an issue which demands respect and compassion.
The government must take care not to join the Conservative Party and Reform UK in the abyss.
We need to stop pitting different groups against each other, and remember human beings are human beings. My thoughts -

If I do not βlive full time as a femaleβ then I will have committed perjury which can result in a fine, a prison sentence or both.
How can I live as a woman when according to the Supreme Court and the EHRC, I am not one?
Abhorrent.

Awesome to meet LD campaigners in #Edinburgh on my @libdems.org.uk listening tour to hear about whatβs needed to triumph in the 2026 Scottish Parliament elections!
Thanks to the brill @alex.scotlibdems.org.uk & team for organising & @cajardinemp.bsky.social & activists for joining!
I know it's fun to dunk on Starmer, but if you think a Reform majority government wouldn't make Starmer look like a staunch trans ally, you have lost perspective
05.08.2025 19:41 β π 35 π 3 π¬ 3 π 0To be fair, algorithms make it so nearly ANY instance of an awkward take can be picked up by "the enemy," so there's often little point hiding what you think - someone else has already got rinsed for it! 06.08.2025 14:16 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yeah when the story was incremental pro-LGBT reform, the "shut up and vote correctly" approach was a lot more viable. Now that rights are being explicitly rolled back it's a much harder sell to say the least.
