Schoolgirl Spilling Her Lunch, also known as Arigatou Obama-san, is a meme series based on two photos of a fallen-over Japanese schoolgirl staring sadly at her spilled bento lunch. It has been used in a variety of image macros and remixes throughout the years. The photos are originally from the 2008 Japanese TV series ラブレター (Love Letter), and the depicted person is character Minami Tadokoro (portrayed by actress Rio Yamashita)

David Lynch was immeasurably important to me in both childhood and adulthood. As an artist and craftsman he was clearly a singular entity. The planet will continue to produce singular entities so long as it produces life. And the vast majority of them will not get the chance to make a landmark television series that legitimizes them in the eyes of people whose basic inclination is to hate and deride work such as theirs. We are enriched by the few works Lynch was able to make in his time. We are impoverished by the absence of works from artists who could not secure carveouts as tolerable abberations in the commercial landscape—Lynch himself could only do so sporadically. And we are impoverished by austerity's total conversion of the cultural landscape into a commercial one.

2024 currently has more known games industry layoffs than 2023+2022 combined.

2024 is roughly 600 layoffs away from doubling 2023. There is still plenty of business days left in the month.

I can't emphasize enough how extreme these last few years have been.
