So lately the official signage is being put up. But some don't think that is enough...

Three identical looking a4 printed signs saying Staff Offices No Access. The three signs are stuck to a glass door in seemingly random order.

It has gotten out of hand....

They must have been inspired by Forum in Groningen which also has a 'very boring area'

Our communication department applauded the use of the style guide but replaced the sign with one with less text. STAFF OFFICES NO ACCESS is now slathered on every door.🫠

An A4 printed library sign with large red letters stating: Staff Offices No Access
Underneath in smaller black lettering: project rooms and study rooms are on the second floor.
All the way on the bottom of the sign in small lettering: very boring area, librarians are easily startled

So our new library opened this week, it is attracting many people en students but not everything is working correctly yet. Some places provide more access than planned causing staff offices frequently being visited by curious patrons. I guess the library ghosts put up sign which made me laugh.

A sign in a library with a green background and white text. The text reads "is your name not on your I.D.? No problem! Your true name can be correct on your library card".

W librarians.

I had such fun at #LibPMC2025 conference. My eyes were opened with new ways of assessments and I'm full of inspiration for new powerBI dashboards. I wish I could keep chatting with the attendees but time flew by. If you want to keep in touch leave a message!

So excited to see signups from lots of new names/faces for this year’s #UXLibs (UX in Libraries).

If anyone is nervous about attending for the first time we run a buddy scheme that is intended to connect you with like-minded people before you arrive.

A public street in Amsterdam features a striking and humorous banner prominently displayed on a building under renovation, covered partially by blue construction netting. The banner is a meme featuring a distorted image of JD Vance, altered to resemble a chubby young boy with an exaggerated under-chin beard. The text on the banner humorously reads: "It's disrespectful if you don't say thank you." The surreal and comedic nature of the banner's placement in a public space adds an unusual and unexpected element to the otherwise typical urban scene, drawing attention and amusement from passersby.

Caught this meme out in the open on my way to work this morning. Definitely made my day 🀣

Hearing now that ERIC, the major database for Education research worldwide, is going to be reducing the number of journals it indexes by 45% (as a start) as of the end of April this year. What do you want to bet the first journals to be cut will be anything remotely related to DEI? #academicsky

The image shows a page from a book titled "Social Origins of Dictatorship and Democracy." The text on the page discusses the English crown's inability to enforce policies effectively in the countryside compared to the French monarchy. The page is marked with underlined sections and handwritten notes in the margins. There is a small stain near the bottom left corner.

Spend most of the day erasing pencil lines from library books. Did you know that eventhough OCR techniques are really good, a simple pencil line makes accesible scans really hard?
