A large bird with a spiky gold crest, blue face skin, red eyes, gray beak, tan feathers on the chest, brown wings with light tan at the edge of the feathers and reddish-brown flight feathers. It is perched on a branch and surrounded by thick vegetation.

Hoatzins are widespread in the lowlands of northern and central South America and can be found along lakes, rivers, and streams. They are referred to as a flying cow because they eat leaves which are digested in the crop with the aid of bacteria, similar to cattle.

A photo of a Meadow brown [Maniola jurtina] in the very early morning. Only the butterfly is in focus, leaving the surrounding habitat as a bokeh lit by the early morning sun - and showing tones of green and yellow with some great pasque flowers standing out. The butterfly is still roosting on dried vegetation from last year.
