Hoatzins are widespread in the lowlands of northern and central South America and can be found along lakes, rivers, and streams. They are referred to as a flying cow because they eat leaves which are digested in the crop with the aid of bacteria, similar to cattle.

Only the butterfly is in focus, leaving the surrounding habitat as a bokeh lit by the early morning sun - and showing tones of green and yellow with some great pasque flowers standing out. The butterfly is still roosting on dried vegetation from last year.
