Well so we focused on the negative impacts there so didn’t actually analyze the benefit side. I would venture the general norm in straight reporting is to focus on concrete but speculation creeps in esp in opinion. Would be a good empirical question…

Interesting premise and project … in our recent paper only about 40% of news articles talked about risks of AI www.arxiv.org/pdf/2507.23718

1 in 10 Dutch citizens are likely to ask AI for election advice. This is why they shouldn't | AlgoSoc

10% of surveyed Dutch citizens told us they are likely to ask AI for election advice. They shouldn't!

This is especially problematic as we know that the people who usually consult advice applications are undecided and are doing so right before casting their vote.

First time in a Waymo last night in Atl. It got me home. Odd route, not the most direct. The acceleration felt … not human. Anxiety crossing roads after a stop or as erratic pedestrians and bikers nearby but the display helps… autonomous cars are here.

This morning there was a volunteer citizen patrol around the local high school in my neighborhood, vigilant for signs of ICE and ready to raise the alarm. It makes me sad that this is our country now, but also proud that people are rising to the occasion to help protect the local community.

A rectangular Northwestern University flyer titled β€œCall for Study Participants.” The top banner is pink with bold black text reading β€œCALL FOR STUDY PARTICIPANTS.” Below it, highlighted in yellow, is the question: β€œAre you a journalist writing about technology and/or computing?” The flyer explains that researchers at Northwestern University are seeking professional journalists who cover technology or related topics, write news in English, and are based in the U.S. to participate in an online study. The study involves using a tool for two weeks, providing feedback, and receiving $100 compensation (IRB Study #STU00224608). It includes a yellow box that says β€œFill out our eligibility form if you’re interested!” with the link https://tinyurl.com/newscompass and contact emails: Nick Diakopoulos (nad@northwestern.edu) and Sachita Nishal (nishal@u.northwestern.edu). The Northwestern University seal appears in the top-right corner.
