We followed a similar pattern, (successfully so far). Our bridge from an acute hospitalization to long term care was a 10-day stay in memory care made possible by a caregiver respite grant. That got our foot in the door for longer term memory care.

The irony of posting quotes about the importance of sharing one’s real voice…it’s a nice little kick for me to keep working to know who I am (and am becoming) and to share that with you and the others alongside me.

β€œHuman literacy is quite helpful, though, because living a life consciously β€” with real connection to interpreting and creating the poetic for whatever it is that life sets in front of us β€” is a far more important skill for life satisfaction than slotting words correctly for a chatbot.”

Ex-farm worker here.

We need to talk about this whole "But a living wage for farm workers would spike the cost of food!" thing.

Not true AT ALL.

Y'all don't understand how fast experienced farm workers are.

The average tomato picker pulls 650lbs per hour.

At $20/hr, that's $0.03/lb for labor.

Meredith has always been a G, but it's still exceptionally weird and very refreshing hearing from a tech exec who can see through all of this AI bullshit for what it is at its foundation: a backdoor surveillance tool.

AοΏΌnd then when you tap into the evergrowing popularity of people using ChatGPT for emotional support and therapy, you’re surely going to get a more personalized, more frank conversation when data is added in there too.
β€œWe believe that understanding emotions is a force multiplier for AI, in terms of it being effective for you in the context of wearing glasses all day,” Steen commented. β€œIf you want AI to be really effective for you, it’s critical that it understands how you’re feeling in real-time, in response to different things that are happening around you.”
It sounds creepy on paper, and it kind of is when you think about it. But it’s certainly a gateway into real emotional honesty that you may not get by rationalizing with yourself in a journal app and possibly glazing over any cracks in your mental health when filling out that survey for the day.

Cannot be overstated that the dominant project for people boosting this tech is to convince users that they can’t trust their own senses and they should give their body over to the machine.

There are two images together. On the left is the cover of a collection of essays titled "Reimagining AI for Environmental Justice and Creativity," co-edited by Jess Reia, MC Forelle and Yingchong Wang in 2025. The cover features an orange and teal design with an abstract pattern at its center. On the right, the table of contents featuring dozens of authors divided into four sections.
