having read 227 books last year (not a typo) i want to slow it all down and savour each word ✨

my 2025 reading goals:

1. read less (take my time with each book; listen to audiobooks at a slighter slower pace, etc)

2. keep on top of my tbr (self explanatory)

3. move as far away from the amazon ecosystem as possible (no audible, look for replacement ebook providers)

5. and finally, the thing i knew all along - i love books. i love reading and stories and words and writers. i love magic and swords and dragons and spaceships and lasers and found families and plot twists and enemies to lovers. i love it all. /fin

4. on the flip side: i DNF’d a book during this challenge (no regrets) and i love that i tried something a little different. it didn’t work this time, and that’s okay. but i’m glad i still experiment from time to time.

3. i have really good taste. some of the books i read in december ended up being favourites of the year. i love that i buy books that have a good chance of working for me.

2. i don’t like reading to a schedule! this project was ambitious, of course, but i found myself reading *less* than i usually would. i found myself reluctant to pick up books i was loving, for absolutely no reason, and i never feel this way!

1. i actually enjoy having a small pool of books to choose from. i like having between 3 and 15 books waiting on the sidelines. having the freedom of choice means i sometimes pick a book that is perfect for how i feel at that moment, and imo, that’s magic.

FINAL UPDATE: i almost made it!!! by the start of 2025, there were only two books i owned that i hadn’t at least started reading. i have Learned Many Things during this, such as…

mine was only four hours but phenomenal nonetheless

down to 8 now! halfway through 3, and rather optimistic for a NYE finish!

i am on a ROLL friends!!! down to only TWELVE books, and one of the ones i recently finished is easily top 3 favourite of the year
