i say with full sincerity unless there are *major* workflow improvements that bluesky for some reason has not open sourced like the rest of ozone, i do not know how contract moderators could do the job full time for even a week without wanting to quit.

we don't talk about this enough but ozone (the primary moderation tool) being as bad as it is likely is a significant contributing factor to how inconsistent moderation is on here because the whole design strips context. no account context, no thread context, no post context, etc. it's appalling.

One of the more incredible stories out of LA this year has been how a taco review blog became the best on-the-ground coverage of ICE raids in the city.

1) The spam network remained operational for weeks after this incident despite the bot (which used public data) and it's creator getting nuked within minutes.

it's the kind of basic innocuous user engagement dev question that in better times that gets light feedback that maybe is somewhat useful, but in worse times, it's leadership failure to permit what can be VERY easily read as inflammatory to users and also invites your staff getting dogpiled. yeesh.

it truly astounds me that there is not a company policy of Shutting The Fuck Up and maybe a memo sent out of when to especially Shut The Fuck Up.

i don't know darrin. if he's a UI guy, i doubt he has any say in t&s, so WHY is there not leadership enforcement of comms discipline to protect staff!?

in my view this is the biggest issue with bluesky's lack of comms person and diligence for maintaining proper channels because the end result is now every dev has become a de facto company spokesperson and representative, which is very bad! a post like this reads at best clueless, at worst trolling.

I guess I can see why Pornhub is willing to take a legal risk that Bluesky isn’t. Still, very annoying.
