In Session 3, researchers Iça Barry (INIPO, Guinea Bissau), Ignacio Sobrino (IEO, Spain) and Mohamed El Hafedh (IMROP, Mauritania) showed the existing Scientific knowledge and recommendations for the conservation and sustainable management in Mauritania and Guinea B. fisheries.

In Session 2, experts in fisheries biology from the IEO (Jose Luis del Río and Ana Ramos) explained the basis for the Ecosystem based fisheries management and the analysis of the impact of trawling in the fishing grounds off West Africa where the fleet of ANACEF operates.

We have attended the VI Annual Conference of ANACEF in Las Palmas de Gran Canarias, focused on the biological component and biodiversity of ANACEF fisheries (trawling). We have enjoyed three sessions dealing with research, conservation and sustainable fisheries #bycatch

We´ve enjoyed a wonderful presentation by Lucy Arnaud about the development of an AI model for bycatch species recognition in industrial tropical tuna fisheries. This kind of tools emerge as technology that will eventually boost research and improve sustainability of fisheries.

After three days of fruitful and useful work by all the attendees (scientists, technicians, states representatives, NGOs, etc) the event has been closed by the representatives of the Ministry of the Sea of Cabo Verde and the Regional Network of Members of Parliaments.
