With all that had been said about Johnson being a film room nerd that might lack the interpersonal skills necessary to be a HC it’s amazing how he commands a room & addresses things clearly. Such a refreshing contrast to what we’ve been through at the podium in the past.

Bears constantly being ranked close to or above the Vikings shows the hype level quite well. Minnesota was in another universe than us last year. Ben Johnson will have to achieve a lot to just be regarded as not disappointing. Level headed Bears fans should keep that in mind.

Must win: Saints = Giants = Browns home

Should win: Vegas

Tough, but winnable: In-division / Steelers, 9ers, Bengals, Washington away; Cowboys home.

Probable lose: Ravens / Eagles

Little to no growth: 3-14
Likely: 8-9
Very good: 10-7+

Positive thing we learned from the first Poles/Johnson draft - we did not adopt the ultra aggressive and costly uptrade / get our guys approach of the Lions.

The Ewers/ Sanders draft gonna keep big name / mediocre year players in college for longer. Mean age of future QBs will likely be higher, making older QBs like Penix (24) or Nix (25) more likely, who can start building a fortune while waiting for the best moment to commit.

Most fun Bears draft I can remember in a while, cause it’s so wide open. Have seen every position being mocked to us and new names keep appearing. OL, DL, CB, RB, why not another WR if he falls, or trade back and go safety? Seems like the front office has done a good job.

Post Draft 2024 videos showed that Poles was ready to move up to get Rome Odunze. This year‘s draft reportedly has many teams wanting to trade down. Depending on Poles‘ board, I think we are one of the few teams to consider for a trade up into the top 8.

Do you have an interview or a report that in which Johnson is alluding to trading swift bring a possible option? I’ve gotten the sense that many people see it that way, but I haven’t seen evidence myself.

Bears mocks often include Jeanty if he falls. RB gets mentioned as need (for example at PFF).

Does that mean Swift’s days are counted?

Is it just a Roschon Johnson take and he’s close to be an afterthought?

Would a Jeanty be the upgraded Knuckles to downgraded Sonic?

Bears fan muscle memory keeps me doubting - but this is everything I ever wished for.

The owners with the most liquidity in the league can circumvent the salary cap by adding void years. Prohibiting void years would probably help the balance in the league, but I imagine no owner wants to openly lobby against it first as it may make em look cheap among their peers.
