If the result is consistent over several random tiny subsets... Testing that would get the procedure back to two hours!

I second Pop!_OS. Their newest cosmic DE is fantastic and makes package installation better and faster than the pop shop (now called cosmic store).
It looks great, it works great.

uv is the best thing to happen to the Python ecosystem in a decade - Blog - Dr. Emily L. Hunt Released in 2024, uv is hands-down the best tool for managing Python installations and dependencies. Here's why.

uv makes installing and using Python *so* easy! It works on pretty much any computer and it's lightning fast. πŸ”β˜„οΈ #astrocode

If you're still using conda, pyenv, or... basically any other tool, then I can *highly* recommend switching:

Very true. Where I did my undergrad the same was true for GR. It was taught, alternating between astrophysicists and theoretical physicists, year after year. You basically had to pick the year that was good for you.

Quantum as in "solve the SchrΓΆdinger equation for an electron in an infinitely deep potential well" etc., I found rather useless. But decent (sub-) atomic physics is quite necessary, I think. Radiative transfer is all about that, after all.

Btw, it's a pretty hard pick which of those two images is most awesome.

The Evolution of Scientific Credit: When Authorship Norms Impede Collaboration Scientific authorship norms vary dramatically across disciplines, from contribution-sensitive systems where first author is the greatest contributor and subsequent author order reflects relative input...

New preprint from @tobyhandfield.bsky.social and me!

We analyze authorship order norms from two perspectives: (1) why do disciplines have different norms and (2) do those different norms affect what kinds of collaborations take place.

Cluebox Nautilus by iDventure, fully disassembled.

I've had this puzzle box in possession for a few years now, but finally gave it a try! Nice challenge, with some fun little twists and turns. Good thing: I have two more!
This was the Cluebox Nautilus by iDventure, bought in a kickstarter (along with two others). Now to reassemble!

I was today years old.... Apparently the class of literature that I enjoy very much is called ergodic literature. Takes a while to get through a book: totally fine. S./Ship of Theseus (D Dorst & JJ Abrams) and House of Leaves (MZ Danielewski) were my gateways.
Any other fans here? Any tips?
