Yahweh as a manipulative daimon pretending to be the only god to be worshipped and sacrificed to. It would explain the history of Christianity to the present day.

If Zosimos had lived today, he would probably agree. He viewed the daimones as manipulative entities eager for attention and worship. So besides political consultants, how many influencers are daimones in disguise?

Have evil daimons pretended to be gods for centuries?

The concept of the Anthropos can be seen as the living archetype of humanity. Does Universal Man have the Universal Soul? Does he give soul to the Cosmos?

The idea that each of us is a unique mortal expression of something universal and immortal can be very comforting and liberating.

He stepped forward and said: "You are us. You are sent to be the divine scourge we invited upon ourselves. You are our mirror. If it wasn't for us and what we did, you would not be here."

The first teacher stepped forward and said: "It is clear who you are. You are a kind and humble ruler who is generous and forgiving."

After conquering a new town, ready to terrorize its population, an advisor told the warlord that this town was famous for its three wise and holy teachers. He immediately summoned them before him.

A dervish once told the following story:

A long time ago, a cruel warlord terrorized the Muslim lands. Everywhere he conquered towns and cities, he murdered all the men, sold the children as slaves and the women as prostitutes.

For many people, the world has lost its soul and all meaning. Humans choose to create a world where matter is all that there is, and the self is the most important entity. This new world cannot bring us eudaimonia, and we have reached a point where people are unhappy, frustrated, scared, or angry.

It would have been interesting if Iamblichus had met Zosimos. Not sure on what they would have agreed and disagreed regarding practice, magic and the ascent to the divine.

About the gods and their worship in Hermeticism In the Hermetica there is a lot of mention about gods. Are they worthy of worship, and do we need to worship them?

The Way of Hermes has its roots in Ancient Egypt. But does this mean you need to live like an Egyptian priest, dedicated to worshipping Thoth and the other Egyptian gods, to practice it? Luckily, the answer is "no".

Is in Hermeticism Man bipartite or tripartite? Hermeticism sees Man as consisting of only two parts: the material body and the spiritual soul. The body is seen as a physical vessel for the soul, which is the true essence of a person.

The question of whether Man is bipartite or tripartite in the Hermetica seems like it has an easy answer. Many people will assume that man consists of body, mind, and spirit.

Close textual analysis shows that the bipartite perspective might be the correct answer.

Hermes Trismegistus is depicted in an 11th-century Christian church in the Dutch city of Zutphen. In the Sint Walburgis Church, a painting of Hermes Trismegistus is visible on the ceiling. He stands there among the other great prophets and philosophers who taught the true doctrine to humanity.

Postmodernism and moral relativism make understanding hermetic spirituality much more difficult. Perhaps even more difficult than it has ever been in history.

Good points. People doing evil or shitty things can be utilized by the divine for specific tasks or goals. But just because they enact the will of the divine does not make them enlightened people, just pawns. I see an enlightened person not as a divine pawn but more like a divine representative.

Nowadays, many people see their dark aspects as just as important as their light aspects, and even cherish and cultivate their dark aspects. They see that as healthy. With such a view people doing shitty things can be seen as enlightened. But maybe the term "enlightenment" then has lost any meaning.

Sometimes the process is described as "like only recognizes like", so if you want to become (close to) the Source, you have to become like the Source. The self-change is maybe partially to be done by the individual (light up), and partly activated by the Source (light down).

It's possible, but it sounds strange. My lineage is one where gaining enlightening insights (gnosis) is expressed in practical ways through moral behavior. If you receive light from the Source, and the Source is Good and Loving, then this light transforms the person into becoming like the Source.
