I spent my childhood inside of American concentration camps. I know one when I see one. And that is what ICE is building.

Partner's mother bought me a sweater. I would describe the style as either Grandma or small child. Not my current style. Also wrong size. I'm very lucky we don't live in the same country, so I can safely feign delight over and never wear it.

Cleaned windows and kitchen cupboards inside and out. It's amazing how much dirt accumulates in 5 years.

Updating router firmware. Didn't know that was a thing that needed doing. Uh oh...

Is 2026 going to be another 2016 in celebrity deaths? We've lost some big ones already. And importantly, ones that weren't particularly old and/or still at the top of their game (eg. Catherine O'Hara, James Van Der Beek).

Fundamentally, I love acquiring and sharing knowledge.

The burritos were a success. But that second one was ill advised.

Must be hard to be a burglar these days. What with all the working from home, houses aren't reliably empty for long stretches of the day 🤔

Curtains are actually a brilliant technology and grossly undervalued these days. Very low tech privacy and sound absorption.

Finally heard the newborn upstairs baby crying!

I work 4 days a week; Tuesday to Friday. Lots of people work Monday to Thursday or do homeoffice on Fridays. So while my Tuesday to Thursdays are bursting with meetings and calls, my Fridays are empty and quiet. What I'm saying is, most of my work gets done in one day every week.

Had a tough parenting day today. Haven't had to do a full day alone for a while, and that combined with her current age (3), is testing my patience to the max. Also doesn't help that lots needed to get done today and it's never easy to combine toddlers and schedules.

RIP Catherine O'Hara. The world is just a little less funny without you here. You will be missed.

We've been using reusable wet wipes since our daughter was born. Now that she's basically potty trained, we're seriously considering keeping them for general family use.

I should specify: still as wet wipes for the same purpose they were used on her.

Objectively, Adam Driver is actually pretty ugly, but there's just something about him. Goes to show that there's more to it than just objective criteria.

The thought of single parenting every other week but by the same token not having the burden of also "parenting" my partner is becoming increasingly appealing.

This is also a complaint about my partner who, because he's going to take her out for the day, feels totally justified in expecting me to share the parenting duties before and after he goes out.

Why WHY am I always sick on the days my daughter doesn't go to daycare? 😭

Although I will say diaper rash cream also works wonders on adults, so it's not all bad.

I used to think there was nothing worse than being sick when you lived alone. I now know I was wrong. Being sick and left alone to care for a toddler is my new definition of hell.

I am so thankful we were able to send my daughter to daycare today because I am not well enough to care for her at the moment.

I thought I'd escaped the gastro my partner has on Thursday but no. Today it is my turn.

I'm glad this week is over. It's been tough on so many levels. Thankful my mental health is in such a good state that it's barely affected me.

Today's cooking: red lentil dal, basmati rice and tandoori chicken (dinner); flatbreads (anytime, but also with the dal); pickled red onions (anytime).

Ok, time to do some bills.

Am having dark thoughts like: "I wonder if civil war will break out in the US before they manage to start wwiii?"

They've shut down the busiest tram stop in Zurich, in front of the train station, for a year, to make it accessible, and aren't doing a thing to improve the rest of the area around it (which is flanked by a couple of very busy roads which are absolute death traps for cyclists and pedestrians alike).
