Today is the anniversary of the repeal of Section 28 in England and Wales. Here's why the campaign to strike down that homophobic law was what first got me involved in politics π
18.11.2025 19:16 β π 10 π 3 π¬ 1 π 0It was fantastic to speak to BBC Midlands last night about my campaign to tackle serious organised freight crime.
20% of workers in our community work in freight and logistics, so I am proud to be standing up for this vital sector.
8/ You can watch the full documentary on BBC iPlayer here: www.bbc.co.uk/iplayer/epis...
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 07/ One victim said these crimes are devastating: βWeβre not sleepingβ¦ one hit like this and youβre out of business.β Thatβs why we need a new crime code, more investment in security, and a national strategy, so we can put these shameless criminals behind bars where they belong.
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 06/ Police warn freight crime is becoming βmore sophisticated, more organised.β Gangs slash truck curtains, raid depots, and steal entire trailers. Industry leaders say the sector is βunder attack,β and rising theft will ultimately hit consumersβ wallets.
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 05/ The BBC uncovered a network of haulage firms purchased using the identity of a Romanian driver who had died months earlier. The deals were done by a man known as βBennyβ, later identified as a completely different man, seen posing with a Β£150k Lamborghini on social media.
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 04/ One Midlands transport firm was tricked after hiring what looked like a genuine subcontractor. The lorry arrived, was loaded with Β£75k of goodsβ¦ and vanished. Fake plates, disconnected numbers, no trace β just one example of how bold these criminals have become.
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 03/ As the documentary shows, criminal gangs are infiltrating the UK haulage industry by buying up transport firms β even using a dead manβs identity β to pose as legitimate truckers and steal goods by the lorryload. Freight theft has soared to Β£111m in the last year.
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 02/ 20% of my constituents work in freight, and the BBC have shone a light on what hauliers have been telling me for months: that hardcore organised criminality is undermining this essential industry and costing businesses and consumers millions.
17.11.2025 15:24 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 1 π 01/ Last year I launched a campaign to tackle freight crime and call for a new crime code so the police can act. At first it felt like no one recognised the scale of the problem, so itβs brilliant to see BBC Midlands highlight it in a major new documentary. π§΅

My letter in the Guardian about why the Equality and Human Rights Commission's guidance on sex and gender is unworkable and goes far beyond what the Supreme Court judgement actually said.

Rachel Taylor, MP for North Warwickshire and Bedworth drives ambulance 1500 miles to Ukraine

Farage called misogynist influencer Andrew Tate an "important voice for men" and wants to scrap the online safety law that protects children from extreme pornography and women from revenge porn. Reform have no plan to keep people safe online.
18.08.2025 09:33 β π 154 π 68 π¬ 14 π 8Yesterday I completed my 1,500 mile journey from the UK to the Ukrainian border, where we handed over the ambulance and all the supplies generously donated by the British public.

30.07.2025 14:36 β π 6 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0Yesterday I set off in the ambulance from North Warwickshire and Bedworth on my three day trip to deliver aid and supplies to Ukraine. Here's what happened.
30.07.2025 14:35 β π 5 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0From North Warwickshire and Bedworth to Ukraine. 1500 miles. 3 ambulances. Desperately needed supplies.
It was an honour to be asked to drive a retired ambulance full of aid across Europe to the Ukrainian border by local business LKQ Euro Car Parts, as part of their enormous fundraising appeal.

My comment to @itvnews.bsky.social about Reform's 19-year-old council leader in Warwickshire and why I don't believe he has the experience necessary to lead a Β£600 million council.
24.07.2025 10:02 β π 5 π 1 π¬ 0 π 0No plan, no policies, and a council in chaos. Three months in, it's clear Reform are failing Warwickshire.
23.07.2025 14:09 β π 142 π 58 π¬ 28 π 20I wish Cllr Finch well as Leader, but I remain deeply sceptical that he has the experience needed to deliver change for my constituents.
22.07.2025 12:53 β π 1 π 0 π¬ 0 π 0I have met Cllr Finch and know him to be a charismatic and ambitious young man, but my constituents need someone with a proven track record to fix our potholed roads, special education services, and social care system.
22.07.2025 12:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0The fact that even the Conservatives refused to back Reform's choice for leader demonstrates the level of disquiet about this inappropriate appointment.
22.07.2025 12:53 β π 0 π 0 π¬ 1 π 0I am deeply concerned by Reform UKβs decision to railroad through the election of a 19-year-old with no previous experience to lead Warwickshire County Council.

It's about time someone took Reform to task for what they do, and not just what they say. @bbclaurak.bsky.social
20.07.2025 10:03 β π 4 π 2 π¬ 0 π 0Reform in Warwickshire need Tory backing to vote in their teenage council leader, and weβre now seeing the price for that support - tens of thousands of pounds for political staff. Reform said theyβd save taxpayers money. Instead itβs being spent on a big fat bribe.
