Tech for good, for people, for orgs. Less tech, and slower too. Popping balls through hoops, open source, learning guitar, making prints, building with wood. Ōtepoti, Aotearoa.

Screenshot of the article being discussed; headline reads "a cycleway barrier damaged by Tesla", which may have been intended to read "damaged *my* Tesla", but it's more correct in this form. Pictured, indignant Tesla driver who hit an inanimate object on the road, and complained about it to the media.

At least the headline sub editor got it?

take the energy you have for tearing someone down on the internet and put that into telling someone you care about how much they mean to you, or supporting a friends creative endeavours.

I have not worked out yet how to access designated smut like this on bluesky.

I get a helpful notification but no option to click through ... Is that how everyone sees it or am I missing a setting?

shackle over a finger-length stem that was pointing the right way

the menacing branch was fun, we (me & the older kid) threw the dog's rugby ball at it for a bit fairly ineffectively, then i moved up to a trailer shackle on a piece of light nylon rope

we were aiming to get the shackle thru a fork in the branch and catch, but i named the true goal of landing the

Dunedin closes with more than 50 candidates running for 14 council seats. We need a programme to export democracy-loving Dunedites to other regional centres to run for office.

Still - When there's low engagement - local body elections, small member orgs with open membership - it will probably happen.

whether it's entryism or regular democracy is a question too I guess?

I think everybody can try Entryism (if that's the right term).

I doubt it's a winning strategy - should I join an org I disagree w, to bend them in the direction I like?

If it worked, orgs might be more liquid ... Implication to me is for most orgs, member led change isn't as powerful as top-down.

Most experts acknowledge that a takeover by artificial intelligence is coming for the video game industry within the next five years, and executives have already started preparing to restructure their companies in anticipation.
After all, it was one of the first sectors to deploy A.I. programming in the 1980s, with the four ghosts who chase Pac-Man each responding differently to the player's real-time movements.

This is an insane thing to write about game development. www.nytimes.com/2025/07/28/a...

I Saved a PNG Image To A Bird
YouTube video by Benn Jordan I Saved a PNG Image To A Bird

Holy shit. This guy saved a PNG to a bird.

(he drew a bird into a spectrogram, played that sound to a starling, and the starling reproduced it back to him with enough accuracy he got his bird drawing back in their call's spectrogram) www.youtube.com/watch?v=hCQC...
