Well... it's happening now. Because the Americans who hold important positions in the country apparently have no backbone and don't dare to contradict the Great Dictator for fear of losing their own jobs.

It says “NASA announced it will consider proposals from private companies and universities”. This means that it is not yet certain that a private partner will be found. Moreover, it is likely that the president will always have the final say.

But personally, I don't think it's a good idea to leave the collection, management and preservation of such information entirely to private partners, without any government control.

Je kunt jezelf ook gewoon reisascese (reistucht) opleggen. Ik begrijp niet waarom mensen per se willen reizen. Voor mij hoeft het niet. Ik ga minder dan jaarlijks op reis, zelfs niet in het binnenland. Ook al kan ik het betalen en spreek ik mijn talen om mijn plan te kunnen trekken.

Maar als het een moedwillige ingreep was, dan blijft de vraag waarom die dan ook weer zo gemakkelijk, zonder enige weerstand ongedaan wordt gemaakt. Ik vind het overigens ruggengraatloos dat allerlei Amerikaanse instituties al a priori informatie verwijderen of aanpassen voor het ze bevolen wordt.

Het probleem is dat je onder de huidige omstandigheden zo achterdochtig wordt, dat zelfs als het een echte ‘coderingsfout’ zou zijn, je het dan nog amper zou geloven.

Veel kl*t*n aan hun lijf heeft die directie van het Smithsonian toch ook niet. Ik zou vlakaf weigeren en er direct zelf ruchtbaarheid aan geven in de pers. En dan kunnen ze me alsnog ontslaan. In zo’n positie moet je haar op je tanden hebben.

Het Smithsonian heeft alle verwijzingen naar de afzettingsprocedures tegen Trump verwijderd.

Volgens huidige tentoonstelling hebben enkel Johnson (1868), Nixon (1947) en Clinton (1998) zo’n procedure gehad.

Het woord ‘onteigening’ klinkt natuurlijk nooit sympathiek en is electoraal dus inderdaad wellicht niet haalbaar.

Ik spreek niet over u in het bijzonder, maar in het algemeen. Er zijn mensen die ‘in the middle of nowhere’ (Het hol van Pluto) gaan wonen, maar dan klagen dat er geen openbaar vervoer is, of dat ze twee uur in de file moeten staan om op het werk te geraken.

Ik heb daar ooit eens een artikel van hem over gelezen, maar dit inzichtelijke filmpje had ik nog niet gezien.

Natuurlijk. Maar je moet dus niet verwachten dat jijzelf enkel de voordelen van een keuze geniet, terwijl de maatschappij de nadelen ervan zou moeten oplossen.

Het vreemde is dat cultuur zich steeds meer in de (grotere) steden concentreert (buurtbioscopen in kleinere gemeenten zijn er bijvoorbeeld nauwelijks meer), maar dat men de ‘va-et-vient’ tussen stad en buiten niet goed organiseert.
