Last week on @msnbc.com, L4GG’s ED @tracifeitlove.bsky.social discussed L4GG’s Pro Bono Litigation Corps—a new program mobilizing solo & retired attorneys to fill the gap left as Trump’s political retaliation drives Big Law out of cases that challenge government overreach. Learn more: L4GG.org/PBLC

Big Law Firms Bowed to Trump. A Corps of ‘Little Guys’ Jumped in to Fight Him.
With the launch of our new Pro Bono Litigation Corps, hundreds of lawyers whose talents would otherwise have gone to waste will now be able to work on impact litigation challenging the unconstitutional actions of the administration. Please support this work! www.nytimes.com/2025/07/21/u...

We have 11 work permit legal clinics set up to assist approx. 150 asylum seekers (for free) over the next few months. Thanks to the "BBB" they all have to pay a $550 app. fee to the U.S. govt.
Talk about a Catch-22.
Can't earn $$$ legally without permit.
Can't get permit without $$$.
Cruel.

Red, white and blue abstract painting hinting at barbed wire, gun violence, and the remnants of an American flag
It’s called “American Nightmare.” I painted it in 2019 when immigrant families were being caged, tortured, and torn apart by the first Trump administration. Now it’s 2025 and we are building more cages, hiring more secret police, and kidnapping people off the streets. So…happy 4th I guess

This July 4th, I am not celebrating. I am strategizing. And dreaming of a nation that could be, if only more of us would wake up.

Bad government kills people, destroys lives, destroys our only planet, all to satisfy the whims of the wealthiest and greediest among us.
Good government supports the rights of its people to life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness.
Not for some people. For all people.

In exactly two weeks, on May 1, lawyers, judges, and advocates across the country will gather in front of federal courthouses to say, loud and clear:
We will not stay silent while the rule of law is under attack.
Here’s how you can show up for #LawDay 2025! 🧵

“We lawyers, just like the President, swear an oath to support and protect the Constitution. If a president can with impunity seek to destroy a law firm because of the clients it represents, then the rule of law itself is in grave danger.” - Susman Godfrey

Screenshot of one paragraph of complaint reading “ 5. Susman Godfrey lawyers recognize that the highest calling of a lawyer is our duty to our Constitution and to the rule of law. We cannot do something on behalf of our clients that imperils the rule of law. That is why Susman Godfrey stands firm against this plainly unconstitutional order: because it is so dangerous to the rule of law. Though no president has the power to unilaterally impose these kinds of punishments directly on any organization or person, it is particularly significant that, in this case, President Trump is trying to exact revenge on a law firm. Because we are a government of laws, and not men, lawyers hold a special place in protecting our constitutional order. We lawyers, just like the President, swear an oath to support and protect the Constitution. If a president can with impunity seek to destroy a law firm because of the clients it represents, then the rule of law itself is in grave danger.”
Thank you, Susman Godfrey. storage.courtlistener.com/recap/gov.us...

U.S.D.A. Freezes Funding for Maine Amid Battle Over Transgender Athletes
The administration concluded last month that Maine had violated federal law by allowing transgender athletes to play on girls’ or women’s teams.
There's a lot going on, God knows, but don't miss that the President of the United States is using the full force of the Federal government, as well as tax dollars, to punish a state because its Governor... refused to do as he instructed.

AFRICOM commander Gen. Langley tells senators that China is "trying to replicate" USAID programs in Africa as the US scales back USAID.
"They're trying to use that as an extension of the Belt and Road Initiative to gain favor by the African countries," Langley said.
Wow who could’ve guessed that this would happen
It’s almost as if USAID was a pillar of American soft power and influence in the world
It’s almost as if it was entirely predictable that America’s adversaries would work to fill the void left by USAID’s destruction
