I’m planning to start on this next week! (That’s when it first appears out from behind a tree in my backyard at Astronomical dark).

23 years doing so and that was the worst that happened, so I’m happy.

Confession time: I did exactly this when I deleted a table meaning to delete some rows. Fortunately, it was in a test environment, but it cost our off-shore dev team a day of work because I never noticed and couldn’t fix it until the next morning.

WR-134 in Cygnus. The blue circular nebula is the outer shell of an extremely hot star that has been blown away by the star’s intense radiation pressure. #astrophotography.

I love how this color palette really brings out the subtle wisps of dark nebulosity within the bright areas.

7 hours and 10 minutes of exposure time over 4 nights in August 2025, and a considerable amount of hours on the computer went into the making of this image.

The techniques I've been learning involve mixing color channels and using color masks to target adjustments to specific areas of the image. This is the color palette used in a lot of Hubble images.

I've spent the last couple of days learning some new processing techniques for my astrophotography. The North American and Pelican Nebulae were photographed using a dual narrowband filter that records light from Hydrogen gas as reds and Oxygen as blues. #astrophotography

Maybe with quantum teleportation? 😁

I am an astrophotographer. I started in the 1990’s and have recently returned to it after retirement.

Imaged using a Fujifilm XT-3 camera and the Fujifilm 100-400mm zoom lens. Tracked but unguided using a SkyWatcher EQ6-R Pro mount. 58 30-second subs, ISO 1600 at f/5.6.

The Orion and Running Man nebulae

In my continued effort to see how far I can push my landscape photography gear for astrophotography, I’ve found that I can actually get quite a lot out of it! Presenting the Orion and Running Man nebulae. #astrophotography #fujifilmXT-3

Is there chocolate available within a 30 mile radius? Because if so, I’m suspecting a lack of commitment.

I so wanted to capture the transit of Io last Saturday night with my C11, but family obligations got in the way. Very nice work!

I’m sure you’ve seen images of the occultation of Mars by the moon that happened last night. Here is a sequence of images I made of the event from just before occultation to just after Mars reappears.

I moved to Santa Barbara the day before the Painted Cave Fire broke out. The fear and panic is something I will never forget.
