Oh sure you think Chuck Schumer is “caving” and “wants to ruin all the momentum” and “is horrible at politics” but what if I was to tell you that this old crazy man ran the idea by an imaginary married Irish American couple that exists only in his mind and they think it’s great politics

My heart aches with sorrow for my kids who have no money to buy food. Their bodies are weakening, their bones are decaying, and their teeth are breaking. Is $200 too much for you to save my children?
Only 8 people donate 25$

It’s why the entire American judiciary disgusts me. It’s completely backwards. Procedure and wordplay over obvious facts and justice. It’s clearly not set up to serve anyone in society who isn’t wealthy enough to bribe their way (sorry get fined) out of damn near anything. Human toll? Who cares?

I actually do understand the legal reasoning behind Justice Jackson's stay order. My point is that when people have no food, unless they can eat your legal reasoning, it's irrelevant.

Feed. Them.

I know this is pedantic, but Kim Davis was not "jailed for refusing to issue same-sex marriage licenses." She was jailed for contempt of court because she refused to follow a court order (she had stopped issuing all marriage licenses). NYT makes it sound like the Woke Police broke down her door.

Rosalind Franklin died at 37 of ovarian cancer attributed to radiation exposure from the methods she & her assistant used to photograph a cross-section of the DNA double helix.

Meanwhile, Watson won a Nobel off that work & survived to the ripe old age of 97 by simply: stealing those notes!

A family friend was telling us about what her husband shared about his experience in Broadview before he was deported back to Mexico. She's been sharing to friends and family because she's just in disbelief & horror what her husband told her. She wasn't able to talk to him until he was in Mexico.

The Shutdown of U.S.A.I.D. Has Already Killed Hundreds of Thousands The short documentary “Rovina’s Choice” tells the story of what goes when aid goes.

“On a budget of just twenty-four dollars per American—out of the fifteen thousand dollars in taxes paid per person last year—they had saved lives at an almost unimaginable scale.”

$24 dollars per tax payer was saving hundreds of thousands of lives.

I can speak from experience that this complicates a number of things, including voting if you're not voting by mail.

I was delayed for hours in my attempt to vote (and would have been denied if I hadn't been so persistent). I was accused of fraud and had a note made next to my name.

when you expand it to police abstract concepts like "rude" or "suggestive", especially when your judgment is prudish & questionable, you seriously weaken the system

When I worked in WaPo Opinions in 2017-2018, senior editors specifically told junior editors not to factcheck Marc Thiessen and other MAGA columnists, otherwise they wouldn’t be able to publish anything by them at all, and “we need them for intellectual diversity.”

‘This is kidnapping — plain and simple’: ICE arrests 9 employees at Allston car wash The employees were detained Tuesday morning before they could present their documents, according to the car wash’s manager.

It’s not even “papers please” anymore…

Now it’s “we’re kidnapping you because you’re brown and we don’t care that your documents are five feet away in your work locker”

This is illegal, immoral and cruel.

Failure to Autopsy: The Otto Warmbier Case Coroner and medical examiner offices are charged with the medicolegal investigation of deaths to determine the cause and manner of death.

Not a lot of attention (outside of some communist circles) after the statements by the US medical team & coroner were made public. The family's statements are in direct contradiction to what medical evidence they allowed to be gathered in that case.

It’s been a pleasure working with Lex and everyone in the politics vertical at Teen Vogue. I’m heartbroken that my column, Disability Visibility, is gone. Teen Vogue was one of the few places that published disabled journalists regularly. I just spent the last 2 months working on my next column

It’s truly tragic how many of these US war criminals like Cheney never face justice and die in their peacefully in their homes in their 80s and 90s. I want to be happy he is dead but I am not. The million people he killed didnt get the luxury to die how he did.

That and the fact that the US political and media apparatus made sure that neither Bush nor Cheney paid any price for what they did after their rule ended. just back to the politics of "decency" and politeness. No justice, no accounting.

I’m sharing a Palestinian account every day and today is Reham. Reham is the primary caregiver for her 3 children Joan, 7, Emad, 6 and Kenan, 4. Her husband has a chronic illness and unfortunately cannot help much. They recently were able to return to their home but found it completely destroyed.

A few months ago Jeff Bezos expressed interest in buying Conde Nast, the parent company of Teen Vogue.

Teen Vogue has been a leader in political coverage and critical of the current regime.

I hope the elimination of their political coverage isn’t designed to woo Bezos…
